We invite applications for a unique opportunity to contribute to Switzerland’s first nationwide web platform for processing and analyzing mass spectrometry data on organic pollutant from water samples.

NTSuisse is a groundbreaking collaboration between Swiss cantonal environmental, water protection, and drinking water laboratories, cantonal water suppliers, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag), and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) (further information on www.ntsuisse.ch ). Together, we are developing a platform for the automatation of the analysis of LC-HRMS data, enabling semi-quantitative screening of approximately 600 substances. The project aims to revolutionize water quality monitoring and deepen our understanding of chemical pollution in Swiss waters. Our containerized platform is built around LABKEY Server and a PostgreSQL database, with additional workflows implemented in Python, R, and Airflow, and a customized user interface designed in JavaScript using ExtJS.

We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for web development and a curiosity for scientific data analysis. Successful candidates will join a small, dynamic team of professionals, including a project manager, lead engineer, and backend developer.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Enhance and develop features for an existing web interface using JavaScript, ExtJS, SQL and Labkey Server
  • Review use case specifications and draft implementation concepts
  • Test and document your code to ensure reliability and usability
Required Skills
  • Experience with web/frontend development, ideally JavaScript or JavaScript-based frameworks 
  • Familiarity with version control systems, and collaboration tools such as GitLab
Optional Skills 
  • Knowledge of ExtJS, SQL, Labkey Server, Docker
  • Experience working with mass spectrometry data
