Airworthiness Engineer
As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).
Your responsibilities
►As a member within airworthiness team, shared responsibility for coordination and management of the type certification process, the airworthiness certificates, the changes in type design and the continued airworthiness. Directly responsible for airworthiness activity relating to rotorcraft or system level disciplines that are allocated to a specific airworthiness engineer position.
Tasks:
►Manage and track certification plans for initial type design and post-type certification activities as well as the documents shared with the authorities
►Manage and track the flight safety statements for experimental activities
►Work closely with the chief engineers, the CVE, the certification coordinator and program management
to ensure a transversal coordination and work-share with responsibility for delivery to time and quality
►Verify the consistency and integration of the required airworthiness certification documentation and activities: certification program, certification plans (DCPs, CCLs), compliance documents and CRI & CAI, in accordance with the DOH
►Consult the DO in all matters of airworthiness and approval as well as for maintaining the certification aspects of the DAS
►Prepare change classification assessment form (minor/major changes)
►Check the CM requirements are implemented and the corresponding substantiation documentation is revised (change to type design)
►Harmonize the required airworthiness certification documentation
►Follow the evolution of authority requirements
►Check the airworthiness standards of the different authorities worldwide.
►Assist on the development of mandatory SB in the case of unsafe condition
►Initiate the activities to answer a “failure evaluation” and/or complaints from Kopter product operators. In case of an airworthiness impairment, inform the authority / Agency
►Assist the Authorities to enforce AD and regularly check the applicability/relevance of new ADs to Kopter DO
►Monitor the revisions of the manuals approved by the Agency (Aircraft Flight Manual, MMEL, and Airworthiness Limitation Section of the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness)
►Create and optimize the DO processes related to the airworthiness domain and maintain documents within the DAS
Your qualifications
►Engineering graduation degree or a proven record in comparable function
►Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the aviation industry with common knowledge about DOH/DAS/QMS
►Flexible, self-driven attitude with a customer focus
►Analytical and organisational skills
►Very good English spoken and written (minimum B2)
