When CSL announced that it would build a new factory in Lengnau, there was much applause and massive support from the canton of Bern. A new IT manager took up his post in the fall of 2020. The first major official act was to outsource large parts of IT to Capgemini. Layoffs on a large scale followed. The discussions held with the affected employees rarely lasted more than 10 minutes. The IT service level is in the basement. The business is dissatisfied, and so are the remaining IT staff, who have to absorb the frustration of the business. The IT staff has been muzzled about naming the circumstances. Projects are not getting off the ground or are not even being started because there is no staff and apparently no money. Not only in IT, but also in finance, jobs have been eliminated in Switzerland. Many of them have been shifted to England. Mistakes happen in production, as they do everywhere where people work. However, under the ever-increasing pressure, it is a matter of time before the errors have a greater impact, which has so far been prevented with a lot of luck and dedicated personnel. Internal applications are left undone. People prefer to appear at job events to attract the best talent directly from the university instead of promoting internal people. Ethical values are being promoted to the public, but there is more hot air behind them than anything else. In the end, shareholder value is relevant, period. Swiss Employer Award 2015 - that was once upon a time, and it's still amazing that the ranking is still high. Now CSL wants to buy Vifor. There will certainly be job cuts, even if it is said that this is not the focus. The IT people can start warming up.
