WRC Safety Manager (Geneva - Switzerland)

Under the supervision of the Head of Operational Safety, the WRC Safety Manager applies his/her expertise and knowledge to improve safety on Road Sport disciplines at the World Rally Championship level.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

• Collaborate with the FIA Road Sport Department, ASNs and WRC event organisers to assess and manage safety risks for competitors, volunteers, officials, marshals, media, and spectators
• Review safety dossiers and oversee operational safety aspects for WRC competitions
• Compile operational safety reports after each event, and follow-up on the action lists from one event to the next one
• Travel to each WRC and candidate events
• Develop and maintain best practice guidelines and regulations for the safe planning, organisation and supervision of Road Sport events and propose actions to cascade down the best operational safety practices from FIA World Championships to national level events
• Work closely with the FIA Road Sport Department on the improvement of operational safety protocols, procedures, and equipment
• Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, focusing on operational factors and proposals for cost effective and practical corrective actions
• Contributing to the Safety Department communication initiatives.
• Attending FIA Commissions/Committees and Working Group/Advisory Committee meetings as necessary.
• Support the Operational Safety Task Force:
• Coordinate deployment, follow up and safety expert selection.
• Support and participate in training initiatives intended to improve Road Sport Operational Safety

PROFILE:

• Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Minimum 15 years in motorsport, including at least 5 years in a motorsport federation and WRC environment
• Proficient in English with professional fluency, good knowledge of French (an asset), and a third language is considered a plus
• In-depth understanding of operational safety practices
• Strong knowledge of measures related to motor sport accident prevention and injury mitigation
• Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of complex technical issues using a first principles approach of engineering/science
• Race track and/or motor sport events organization experience
• IT tools:
• Microsoft proficiency and other IT tools designed to enable real-time collaboration between different locations
• Proficiency in software for creating safety dossiers and road books, such as Eventhos
