The Rehabilitation Engineering Lab (RELab) at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology at ETH Zurich is an interdisciplinary group with competencies in mechanical and electrical engineering, movement science, neurorehabilitation, and neuroscience. The RELab uses robotics, wearable sensor technologies, and non-invasive neuroimaging to explore, assess, and restore sensorimotor function in persons with neurological injury, to promote sensorimotor recovery and independence. To strengthen its operational processes, the RELab is looking for a Scientific Coordinator in the area of clinical application of rehabilitation technologies. The position will assist with the supervision and coordination of the scientific staff, contacts and coordination with the research partners ( with the Clinica Hildebrand Brissago and other clinics in Switzerland), support in the organization and preparation of the different clinical trials, and support in the teaching activities of the lab.

Job description

  • Coordination and supervision of the scientific staff (e.g., PhD students) and scientific support for ongoing research projects in the field of rehabilitation technology
  • Support the definition of the research strategy of the lab
  • Contact person for research partners; organizing, coordinating, and conducting clinical studies
  • Support person for applications to the various ethics commissions (e.g., Swissmedic, cantonal ethics committees)
  • Supporting paper and grant writing
  • Supporting current scientific and teaching activities in the lab

Profile

You will have:

  • A PhD degree in Rehabilitation Engineering, Health Science, or equivalent
  • Project management proficiency
  • Specific knowledge in the field of rehabilitation engineering, practical experience with hardware and software development in the context of rehabilitation technologies, specifically hand rehabilitation
  • Hands-on experience conducting clinical trials and working with neurological patients
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with clinical trials processes and structures (e.g., ethics applications, Swissmedic, good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines)
  • Demonstrated experience of interacting with therapists and patients
  • Proficient knowledge of Italian, German, and English
  • Experience with software programming (Unity, LabVIEW, Matlab) is a plus
  • Experience in student supervision and teaching at the university level
  • Excellent track record of scientific publications
  • Strong team skills, organizational and planning skills, a solution-orientated mindset, and creativity/ability to innovate
