What you'll do
We're excited to announce a dynamic opportunity for a talented Regional Business Partner to join our growing team! This role offers the flexibility and convenience of fully remote work, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the United States.
In this role, you'll collaborate closely with functional and regional business partners, local business leaders, employees, legal, and our centers of excellence (COEs), to develop and execute P&C strategies, policies and processes specific to the U.S. region. Lead employee relations casework, motivate change, and coach leaders and functional business partners on employment and regulatory matters. You'll play a key part in achieving our organizational objectives and providing the expertise needed to meet our ambitious goals.
The day-to-day
- Act as Trusted Business Partner: Provide U.S. market P&C expertise to advise the business and lead execution of P&C policies, projects and practices for the U.S. Region. Connect business function and strategy to the local region. Support business leaders and functional business partners in relation to local business strategy execution.
- Lead Employee Relations in Your Region: Support employees while balancing their needs with business objectives. Contribute to Viasat’s relationship with formal and informal employee representative groups to support an effective/inclusive organizational culture. In collaboration with legal counsel, provide effective case management and advisory support on the delivery of employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations. Objectively, thoroughly, and empathetically conduct internal investigations into workplace concerns including, but not limited to, allegations of harassment, discrimination, bullying, unfair treatment, and ethical concerns in alignment with company ethical guidelines, cultural values, and country, state, and local regulations.
- Lead with Credibility: Establish trust and confidence of partners at all levels through advising, informing, challenging, and facilitating discussions with leaders and employees on various P&C issues. Navigate difficult conversations while maintaining strong relationships and handling conflict constructively.
- Solve Complex Challenges: Dig deep to uncover the root cause of people issues, identify effective solutions, and work with leaders and P&C Partners to implement solutions that support our strategic goals.
- Cultivate Collaboration: Role model HR best practices, build positive relationships with leaders, and drive innovation through cross-functional partnerships. Partner with COE’s to support and facilitate core HR processes in your assigned market and contribute to global policy, process design and implementation.
- Thrive in a Dynamic Environment: Champion our culture, navigate ambiguity with confidence, and balance tactical and strategic needs in our constantly evolving business. Support the Company as it continues to navigate business transformation and evolving culture and values. This will include a lead or supporting role working with business leaders and functional business partners in the execution of employment actions such as consultations, without-prejudice conversations, redundancies, employee contract issues, and employment and regulatory requirements.

What you'll need
- 7+ years of experience in the HR field, with a minimum of 5 years focused on employee relations.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Deep understanding of the ever-changing landscape of U.S. federal and state employment regulation and labor laws.
- Extensive employee relations experience, preferably within international organizations, including workplace investigations, grievances, performance, and disciplinary matters.
- Solid experience and aim for employee relations work including case management, documentation, resolution, and reporting using EthicsPoint or other case management system. Ability to build sustainable and trusting relationships with HR colleagues and local leaders to pre-empt, understand, and respond to employee needs.
- Critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills are essential to success.
- Approach your work with a "can-do" demeanor, streamlining processes, and proactively taking on challenges.
- Excel in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, including coaching, training, organizational change, influence, conflict resolution, and delivering compelling presentations.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HR Information Systems, including Workday and ServiceNow.

- Track record of building trust and partnership across the business, becoming a champion for the People and Culture needs of the business.
- Project management skills and experience leading people-related projects from start to finish including contributing to the drafting, review, maintenance, and communication of HR policies and procedures which align with local employment laws and competitive practices.
Salary range
$108,900.00 - $160,600.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $135,300.00- $189,400.00/ annually
