Description of the Position
Philanthropy Advisors is recruiting a Consultant to support development and expansion of its Swiss, and international, operations. The Consultant will support the CEO, as well as the entire team, with business development, including acquisition of new clients through development of proposals; in defining, piloting and evaluating methodologies and protocols; and execution of wide ranging client mandates. The Consultant will support in various technical and operational capacities including definition of methodologies and tools; execution of consultations process using mixed methods; development of strategic plans and investment cases; and support in implementation of a wide range of assignments with potential, newly onboarded and existing clients.
Responsibilities
1/ Support strategic business development with existing and new clients with the aim of expanding the PA portfolio
- Support maintenance of existing and expansion of new portfolios of clients and partners, to develop projects in the areas of philanthropy, CSR, corporate philanthropy, M&E, organisational development, capacity building, impact investing and innovative partnerships across the social, development and humanitarian sectors.
- Research/scoping of Request for Proposals/Tenders and preparations and submission of bids/proposals as appropriate, with the support of staff in the entire PA team, as appropriate.
- Research potential clients, prepare pitches/decks, schedule meetings, and follow up to maintain and expand relationships and new business.
- Support development of new portfolios of work (e.g. external assessment management firms, impact investing, etc.)
2/ Implementation of projects / Project Management
- Support PA Team, to conduct assignments as required based on development of client portfolios, this may include (non exhaustive list):
¦ Design of strategies
¦ Literature reviews, benchmarking and research
¦ Project/Partners due diligence
¦ Project management and administrative project support
¦ Execution of assessments, consultations
¦ Participation in the development of methodologies and tools
¦ Preparation of mission reports, including presentation materials
¦ Undertake field missions and travel, as needed
¦ Support to PA consultancy missions with all other relevant tasks, as needed
¦ When on PM with external consultants then managing them (contacts , coordination, roles and responsibilities, etc.)
3/ Representation of PA at external fora, including meetings, conferences, workshops, etc.
- Represent PA at conferences and events across Switzerland and abroad, as relevant
- Build and maintain diverse network of relationships across the philanthropic, responsibility CSR and development and humanitarian sectors
4/ Management
- When the opportunity occurs, management of Interns and/or Junior Consultants (onboarding, weekly support, mentorship, etc.)
Required Profile
1/ Academic and Professional Experience
- Academic: Required: Undergraduate and Masters degrees in sustainable development, international relations, business, or related field.
- Professional: Required: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in advisory and/or consultancy, and/or exposure in humanitarian and/or development operations, and/or CSR & Corporate Philanthropy, and/or Strategic Philanthropy, and/or Sustainable Finance, and/or Foundation & PPP.
2/ Technical skills
- Mastery in project management
- Ability to analyse, summarize and organize information
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation in an asset
- Excellent writing skills
- Exposure to and understanding of one of the following sectors:
¦ The corporate world including sustainability, corporate social responsibility or corporate philanthropy
¦ Knowledge of humanitarian and/or sustainable development sectors
¦ Sustainable finance, innovative investment mechanisms, or impact investing
- Languages: English and French (spoken and written), other UN languages an asset
- Mastery of basic computer tools: Microsoft Office required, advanced and desktop publishing and design skills an asset. Advantage: Desktop publishing and graphic design.
