The Keller Lab of the Biozentrum is seeking a highly motivated and skilled laboratory technician. The Keller lab explores the epigenetic mechanisms and physiological relevance of gene dosage in regulating cellular function in male and female animals - from individual genes to chromosome-wide scales.
Your position
Lab Operations & Management
- Coordinate day-to-day lab logistics, including purchasing, finances, equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and inventories; shipping of research materials (cells, reagents, tissues) to and from collaborators
- Identify and connect with relevant Biozentrum staff, serving as their main point of contact
- Collaborate with team members to support scientific research projects by performing experiments and developing protocols
- Actively participate in our research team, working closely with the group leader, undergraduates, PhD candidates, and postdocs
- Assist with the preparation of laboratory courses (reagents, protocols, etc.) and practical training for undergraduate students
Your profile
Applicants should have a degree as a laboratory technician or a degree in Life Sciences and experience in an academic research environment (wet lab experimental work). We expect proficiency in at least one of the following areas (expertise in multiple areas is advantageous but not mandatory).
- Tissue Culture, ideally primary cells or human pluripotent stem cells
- Confocal Microscopy: Sample preparation, histology/tissue- level, image acquisition, and data analysis using tools like Fiji, Imaris, or Zen Blue
- Genomics: Techniques such as ChIP-seq, CUT&Tag, RNA-seq, library preparation for deep sequencing
- Biochemistry & Proteomics: Protein purification (cellular such as immunoprecipiations of endogenous proteins and/or recombinant proteins), protein characterization for structural biology/biophysical assays
- Experience working with non-model or emerging model organisms
- Experience in bioinformatics
- Knowledge of Drosophila genetics
- Understanding of the academic publishing process
