We are recruiting a Senior Category Buyer - Composites for a global leader in innovative material science, specializing in advanced solutions for a wide range of industry applications. The company is recognized for its commitment to quality, sustainability, and technological innovation.
The owner of this role holds end-to-end accountability for the procurement and strategic management of designated composite material categories. This key role combines supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, and operational excellence to drive the success of the company’s supply chain.
Senior Category Buyer – Composites
Your tasks
- Full accountability for designated composite categories, including the development and execution of category strategies to optimize costs, quality, and supplier performance
- Identify and qualify suppliers, lead sourcing initiatives, and negotiate agreements to secure best-value partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring collaboration, innovation, and supply continuity
- Conduct regular analysis of market trends, supplier capabilities, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic decisions
- Partner with internal teams such as R&D, operations, and engineering to understand requirements and ensure alignment with procurement activities
- Identify risks within the supply chain and develop strategies to minimize potential disruptions
- Monitor and report on category performance, ensuring targets related to cost savings, delivery, and quality are achieved
Your profile
- Proven track record in category management, strategic sourcing, and procurement, ideally in composites or advanced materials
- Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a procurement category, from strategy development to execution and performance tracking
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field
- Strong capability in market analysis, data interpretation, and financial acumen to support decision-making
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with composite materials and their applications in various industries is highly desirable
- Fluency in German and English
