As part of our Sustainable Finance team, the Associate will be responsible for supporting Centre-specific content focused on the transformation of the global financial system and architecture to encourage climate and nature action and to reinforce long-term value creation and economic growth. By engaging private financiers, public institutions, MDBs and DFIs as well as policy makers, the team advances multiple agendas: mobilization of capital for net zero transitions in developed and developing economies with an emphasis on heavy industries, food systems transformation and designing nature-positive economic growth.
Reporting Lines & Interactions
The Specialist Sustainable Finance will report to the Head, Sustainable Finance in New York. Internally, the person will work with colleagues in the Centre for Nature and Climate, Centre for Energy and Materials, Account Management and Business Development Teams, the internal FMS Centre team, Global Industry Team , and a broad range of other stakeholders. Externally, this person will interact and collaborate with constituents ranging from Forum Partner and non-Partner companies, governments, academia, and civil society.
Main Responsibilities:
A successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the scoping and managing of initiatives while facilitating engagement among Forum constituents – both business and non business.
Initiative Management
- Support scope, design and development, as well as execute and deliver on existing initiatives that align with and promote the Forum’s and Centre’s mission
- Initiative organization, including ensuring deliverables are on track across multiple workstreams, coordinating with internal colleagues and external consultants (if applicable)
- Conduct research, stakeholder mapping, curation of existing initiatives.
Organization and Communication
- Creation of documentation and materials such as reports and presentations for events and workshops.
- Support on deliverables from white papers and blog posts to communication strategies including various media channels from podcasts to social media
Stakeholder management
- Experience in community management and engaging with stakeholders across industries, cultures, and seniority levels.
- Ensure opportunities to leverage Forum networks, events , and public engagement opportunities for initiative outcomes are fully utilized
Preferred Requirements and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- 2+ years of professional work experience working with public and private sectors in areas such as banking, capital markets, investment management, investor relations, asset management, portfolio operations, strategy consulting, economic analysis
- Professional experience and existing relationships with public and private stakeholders in developed and emerging economies
- Outstanding track record in account management and/or business development
- Critical thinking and work collaboratively in a team.
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment, building collaborations with a range of internal and external stakeholders and moving from commitments to action and impact
- Ability to build strong internal relationships and networks within a complex, collaborative and ambiguous environment; can work well globally across cultures
- Energetic, self-directed, customer-oriented team player with a mission-oriented mindset
- Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills; additional foreign languages a plus
- Willingness to travel
