Your Impact as a Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager - Americas:
As we at Energy Vault continue to deploy the most reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective Energy Storage Solutions, we are seeking people who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are ready to grow with the company, and are willing to demonstrate deep ownership of their work.
As QHSE Mgr, you will report to the Director, Commissioning & Construction Operations, with support from the Global Safety and Quality teams, and be responsible for driving the culture around safety and quality management systems, and the health and environment policies and plans across the United States (and potentially other countries in the Western Hemisphere as we continue to grow). You will also manage contractors, direct employees, and dotted line employees.

- You will develop and maintain all QHSE policies and procedures for the deployment of Projects and Services, in line with Energy Vaults Systems and ISO Certifications.
- You will monitor and manage Project and Service sites, ensuring all employees, contractors and visitors adhere to Quality, Health, Safety & Environment and Policies, Plans and Procedures. This will include EPC contractor’s and subcontractors’ QHSE programs within the contracts.
- As Energy Vault’s representative, you will interface with the EPC contractor and subcontractors to confirm the contracts are being executed to the required standards and quality as provided in the specifications, scope, and construction documents.
- You will also collaborate regularly with technical colleagues at Energy Vault to understand our energy storage systems and requirements and to review safety and quality standards in product development. You will proactively eliminate risks in design and production where possible, including constructability.
- Provide company QHSE Controls to the EPC contractor and subcontractors for adherence to contract terms and conditions, agreed costs and schedule, regulatory codes and standards and project design basis, that provide safe, reliable, optimized constructability, and cost effectiveness to build, operate and maintain the facility.
- Communicate and engage people, at all levels and roles in QHSE. Develop and conduct training on a variety of topics related to QHSE programs, initiatives, and awareness for both regional and global teams.
- Lead activities related to achieving or maintaining ISO or other certifications.
- Participate in Safety Committees.
- Develop and update/maintain written QHSE Plans, ensuring contractor’s and subcontractor’s adherence to agreed QHSE requirements in quality of goods and services, preservation plan, scope, and contract terms and conditions; this Plan will be in accordance with company guidelines and internal controls that support regulatory codes and standards.
- Provide company controls and strict discipline to the Quality Assurance and Quality Control program that supports Change Order Management, and approvals to these processes for both company representative’s requests, the EPC contractor, and subcontractors.
- Perform site inspections in conjunction with project and service managers. Identify non-compliance issues and proactively work with teams to recommend/implement corrective actions on potential QHSE hazards.
- Conduct or oversee the investigation of work-related incidents, ensure complete reporting and recommendations for remedial action.
- Prepare and maintain budgets and systems of records related to QHSE initiatives.

- 8+ years of experience, including as an QHSE Mgr or related responsibilities in large construction projects within the energy industry.
- Bachelor’s degree and Certificate of Competency in Quality, Health, Safety & Environment or equivalent.
- Great verbal and written communication skills to be able to effectively communicate with key stakeholders, including C Suite; ability to develop relationships across all areas of the business.
- Working experience in ISO 45001 and OSHA guidelines.
- OSHA 30 hrs. certification (Construction or General Industry) preferred.
- Knowledge in ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of safety processes means and methods.
- Advanced knowledge of safety products, personal protective equipment, best practices, & relevant OSHA rules, regulations on construction sites.
- Familiarity with construction safety metrics and reporting.
- Proficiency in common computer software including Microsoft Office.
- Experience in matrixed organizations in Power, Energy storage and / or Renewables.
- Experience in multiple U.S. States, such as California, Texas, and Nevada.
- Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally, up to 30%.
