2 Student Assistants in Instructional Design/Instructional Psychology

The Institute of Educational Science at the University of Zurich, Professorship of Educational Technology, has a vacancy for two Student Assistants (25%) to start on 01/08/2024 or as agreed.
The chair of Educational Technology deals with issues related to developing teaching-learning scenarios for education with digital media or in digital learning environments. The position is offered in the context of the professorship's research foci and as part of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) funded project Self-Determination Theory for Instructional Design (STD4ID). This project deals with how digital learning materials can effectively support students' basic psychological needs, namely autonomy, competence, and relatedness, as outlined in the Self-determination Theory. By conducting two series of experiments in secondary school classes, the study seeks to identify design options that positively influence the perception of these needs, investigate their impact on learning outcomes, and analyze the interrelations between different design options. Both material-based and external features will be examined across static and dynamic digital media to understand their effectiveness. Results will inform the development of motivational design strategies for digital learning materials.
