Scientific Visual SA specializes in the cutting-edge development of automated systems for quality assessment of industrial crystals. These crystals play pivotal roles in the watchmaking industry, LED manufacturing, and smartphone production. Our state-of-the-art 3D scanners, integrating robotics and image processing, are designed to autonomously detect and measure internal defects within a crystal’s volume, ensuring quality control before processing.
Your responsibilities
- Software development for metrology tools
Design and implement software controls for optics, lighting, and 3D scanning systems used in automated quality inspection.
Integrate 3D surface data with internal crystal volume inspection results.
Develop intuitive and efficient GUI components.
- Collaboration & Integration
Wing the Lead Developer in testing, debugging, and code integration to ensure seamless system operation.
Essential requirements
- Full proficiency in C++ (primary development language)
- Familiarity with Python
- Experience or comfort in using ChatGPT for coding/debugging
- A verifiable portfolio showcasing relevant projects
- Proficiency in written English (for documentation)
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt in an agile environment
- Swiss citizenship or C, B, or S permit

Scientific Visual SA has developed the world leading technology for inspecting bulk industrial crystals used in the optics and semi-conductor industries.
To support our expansion, we are seeking a highly skilled and versatile R&D Lab Engineer with expertise in ultrasound inspection of industrial materials. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our R&D program, while also assisting with general lab tasks and maintenance. This position is ideal for someone with a specialisation in SAM, who loves creative engineering and seeks to excel in creating new devices.

Key qualities and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Ultrasound NDT. In exceptional cases, a BD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field may be considered
- Strong understanding of ultrasonic testing principles and techniques
- Advanced knowledge of 3D CAD software
- Hands-on experience in an R&D lab environment, including familiarity with common lab equipment and procedures
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in French and German. English is a big plus
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a lab setting
- Physical requirements:
– Ability to lift and move equipment and materials as required.
– Capability to perform tasks that require moving sizeable objects with manual force or a crane.
- Swiss citizenship or C, B, or S permit

- Experience with other non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and tools.
Your responsibilities
- Improvement of Ultrasonic Scanning Techniques
Perform ultrasonic testing and inspection on various materials to detect internal flaws using existing scanners.
Develop and optimize ultrasound inspection procedures and equipment to ensure applicability to new markets.
Analyze and interpret ultrasound data to generate detailed inspection reports.
Actively propose and develop new components for ultrasound equipment and integrate them into existing systems.
- R&D Lab Support
Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of lab equipment and instruments.
Conduct routine and non-routine tests and experiments to support R&D projects.
Collect, analyze, and document experimental data accurately and systematically.
- General Lab Maintenance
Ensure the lab is kept clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies and materials.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues; coordinate with external service providers for major repairs.
- Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with other R&D team members to support ongoing research projects.
Communicate findings and insights effectively to the multidisciplinary team.
Provide technical support to customers and training to other lab personnel as needed.
