PhD Student for particle physics research on the CMS experiment

The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2200 people.

The High-Energy Physics Group at PSI is part of the CMS collaboration at the CERN LHC with leading contributions in detector development, operation and data analysis, where the main focus is on Standard Model and Higgs boson physics. The group is also playing an active role in the upgrade of the CMS detector for the High-Luminosity LHC and is responsible for the design and construction of the extended pixel system.

For the High-Energy Physics group of the Laboratory for Particle Physics we are looking for a
