The Position

In the cardiovascular and metabolism area, we are developing cutting edge therapies to treat metabolic diseases. As a member of the metabolism group, you will be part of an international group that includes scientists and clinicians that are developing medicines for the future. We are currently looking for a diligent, talented and highly motivated research associate with experience in in vivo biology and in cell/molecular biology to join our dynamic and highly collaborative research team.

Responsibilities:

These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:

  • Executing diverse in vivo experiments (glucose metabolism, behavioral assays, muscle physiology or similar) and managing necessary animal welfare requirements (LTK2)

  • Characterizing novel chemical compounds using molecular and cellular biology techniques (Seahorse, IHC, western blot, etc)

  • Collaborating on the development of new experimental strategies with our research scientists

  • General lab management and organization, incl. maintenance, safety, inventory, etc.

  • Contributing to data analysis and communicating results to the team

  • Taking and maintaining detailed documentation of data

Qualifications:

  • Vigorous “can do” mentality to succeed in a dynamic and highly collaborative research team

  • Apprenticeship as a laboratory technician (EFZ-Biologie/Chemie) preferred, Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Life Sciences or related fields possible

  • Allowance to conduct animal experimentation (active LTK2) and experience with rodents is necessary

  • Relevant industrial work experience is strongly preferred

  • Hands-on experience in molecular (protein and RNA methods) and cellular (cell culture, IHC, etc.) biology methods is desired

  • High motivation, flexibility, and excellent organizational skills to support our team

  • Open and collaborative spirit
