As a member of our chemical process development team at Arxada in Visp, Switzerland, you will be responsible for the development and scale-up of our new chemical processes in laboratory scale and actively support their implementation in commercial scale. This includes the experimental planning and execution as well as data analysis, writing of research reports, preparation of customer presentations and documentation. The diversified responsibilities of your role comprise also the supervision of laboratory professionals, training of interns as well as the continuous optimization of lab workflows. You will work in interdisciplinary teams with a high level of commitment and contribute to the ongoing development of the department and the success of Arxada.
Please note that this position is a pipeline position.
Key responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for the development, implementation of procedures and processes in the field of chemical synthesis and process up-scaling
- Demonstrating scientific and technical leadership at project level
- Planning and supervising experimental lab work in batch, semi batch and continuous mode
- Collecting, summarizing and analyzing data to prepare reports and making presentations to disseminate best practice throughout the function
- Involved in customer meetings and developing customer relationships
- Might be involved in project management in his area
- Full responsibility in managing, developing and coaching 1-2 lab technicians
- Anticipation, evaluation and implementation of trends and innovations in the area of expertise
- Evaluation and cost estimations of new projects and customer inquiries
Key requirements:
- Advanced degree in organic chemistry (preferred Ph.D. or equivalent qualification such as a M.Sc. including industrial experience)
- Significant knowledge of process development and a high technical understanding of chemical processes on industrial level
- Ability to enjoy experimental work in the laboratory and contributing to the success of our dynamic interdisciplinary group
- Structured way of working and high problem solving ability
- Experience in design of experiments (DoE) approaches and statistical analysis as well as
- Experience with continuous process concepts and scale-up to multi mt-scale is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in English and German as well as basic knowledge in project management complete your profile
