This is what you will do:
The Senior Director of U.S. Payer Accounts is responsible for leading a national organization and the execution of the U.S. Market Access strategy for both national and regional payers, supporting current business units as well as future indications. This pivotal leadership position involves close collaboration with Market Access colleagues, commercial leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to establish strategic direction, manage business performance, and build relationships with key national and regional payers. As one of two Sr. Directors, the role will also oversee the U.S. Market Access National & Payer team, ensuring effective implementation of the payer strategy. This is a field-based role and reports to the Executive Director, US Account Management & Field Reimbursement.
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing field-based customer-facing team of account directors, for national & regional payer accounts
- Supporting account directors in implementation of access strategies for assigned national commercial/government payer customers that result in appropriate patient access to Alexon’s medicines
- Supporting account director negotiations and contracting with assigned commercial/government payers
- Driving the team to ensure relationships with senior national payer executives based on an expert understanding of the customer’s organizational structure and strategic priorities
- Ensuring the team leverages approved resources and internal subject matter experts to communicate the value of our medicines to payer customers
- Educating internal/external partners on payer operations policies to support their strategic planning
- Ensuring key metrics are in place to measure success and communicate with senior leadership on strategic impacts
- Managing and monitoring performance of team
- Coordinating the execution of the brand access strategies with the teams responsible for regional affiliates or custom clients of National health plans and PBMs
- Maintaining relationships with senior managed care medical and pharmacy executives based on an expert understanding of the customer’s organizational structure and strategic priorities
- Educating internal cross-functional partners on payer coverage policies to support their strategic planning
- Leading the collaboration between the Access Strategy team and account directors to ensure field insights are used to inform strategy and optimize strategy execution and pull through
You will need to have:
- National payer leadership experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area of study
- 5+ year’s leading a national payer team organization with a track record of success
- 10+ combined years' experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
- 5+ years' experience in a national account management role with responsibility for national payer customers
- Expert knowledge of U.S. managed markets including commercial and government payers
- Demonstrated success in securing appropriate coverage for specialty medicines covered under the medical benefit
- Strong understanding of reimbursement methodologies utilized by commercial and government payers under the medical and pharmacy benefits
- Established relationships with national payers
- Excellent communications skills
- Clinical, technical and scientific knowledge and aptitude in complex disease state
- Travel requirements: Willing to travel at least 60% of the time including significant overnight and weekend travel
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

We would prefer for you to have:
- MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree
- Experience securing access for rare disease medicines
