Spot Power Analyst (f/m/d)

Workload: 80-100%

As a Spot Power Analyst, you will be a key player in our Models Team, utilizing Axpo’s Swiss assets and cutting-edge quantitative solutions to facilitate quicker and more efficient trading decisions. Based in Baden, Switzerland, this role is perfect for those with a passion for modeling, advanced analysis, and working closely with traders in dynamic energy markets.

What you will do:


  • Deliver in-depth market analysis and compute price forecasts for the day-ahead and intraday markets

  • Propose innovative state-of-the-art analysis and anticipate trading needs

  • Develop asset-backed strategies with the spot team to leverage the value of Axpo’s Swiss power plant portfolio in short-term markets

  • Develop market strategies with the spot team to maximize value through proprietary trading in short-term markets

  • Improve current models and processes, and develop new ones

  • Collaborate with other functions and departments

What you bring & who you are:


  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field

  • At least 3-5 years of professional experience in the energy industry, ideally in a power trading environment

  • Analytical and structured thinker with the ability to prioritize and solve diverse problems

  • Quantitative approach to problems, with a sound knowledge of statistical approaches and mathematical methods

  • Experience in price modeling is a plus

  • Proficiency in programming (basic skills in Python preferred) and familiarity with software development and deployment frameworks

  • Strong interest in and commitment to new solutions enabled by digitalization

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team, with a result-oriented mindset

  • Good communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a broad audience

  • Fluent in English; German is an advantage
