As Communications Manager, Sustainability, for Zurich Insurance Group, you’ll play a pivotal role in amplifying our sustainability ambitions. This role offers a unique platform to shape Zurich’s narrative as a responsible insurer, investor, and employer with a clear focus on creating positive, lasting change.
What you will do
- Drawing on your comprehensive understanding of the insurance business and financial industry, co-lead the development and implementation of global communication strategies that bring Zurich’s sustainability framework and ambitions to life for employees and other stakeholders.
- Drive awareness and understanding of Zurich’s Climate Transition Plan by translating it into engaging messages and identifying success stories that resonate with internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate with Public Affairs and Media Relations and translate developments in the external landscape into business relevant insights and messages.
- Create and execute inspiring communication plans across multiple platforms that foster employee engagement and advocacy.
- Work closely with a team of Communications colleagues across functions and regions, shaping messaging and campaigns that align with Zurich’s sustainability ambition and business objectives.
- Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams to develop toolkits that empower Zurich’s local colleagues to drive sustainability communications campaigns, contributing to a unified global narrative.
- Play a key role in flagship projects, such as the Zurich Forest or our “Road to COP30”, managing sub-projects to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Measure the impact of communications initiatives using data and analytics, adjusting strategies to optimize engagement and effectiveness.
What you bring
- 5-7 years of experience in a communications or related business role within an international, matrix organization
- In-depth knowledge of insurance (in particular of Commercial Insurance and Underwriting) and thorough understanding of sustainability topics — including climate change, net-zero transition pathways, and ESG ratings — and an understanding of their impact on the financial services sector
- Ability to fully grasp complex interrelationships and to translate them into visual and written communications
- Ability to advise and influence stakeholders with clear, compelling messaging that inspires action
- Excellent project management, prioritization, and organization skills with the ability and discipline to track and coordinate large number of topics, issues, and deliverables
- Resilient under pressure and in a fast-paced, complex environment.
- Ability to see the bigger picture and to think strategically paired with a hands-on mentality.
- Ability to quickly understand issues and new topics based on limited information.
- Proficiency in using digital platforms, including internal and external social media, to create engaging and impactful communications.
- Native-level fluency in English, with an exceptional eye for detail in crafting content that simplifies complexity for diverse audiences. Proficiency in German is a plus.
- Interculturally savvy and experienced in working at a global/international level.
