The Base
We are based at 7 Bryant Park in the heart of NYC. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model, with a requirement that our Temporary Legal Administrator be in the office 3 days per week. This is to sustain our culture of innovation, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and building relationships within the business

Legal Department Overview
This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the legal function within the asset management industry. The Americas Legal Department is part of our global Legal and Governance function. Members of the Americas Legal Team have the industry and legal experience to identify critical issues, solve problems, and help pave the way for Schroders' success in the Americas and throughout the firm. The Team provides high quality legal advice, transactional advice, regulatory advice, litigation oversight, and advice on compliance and reputational issues. Our lawyers, along with other legal professionals, assist the business areas in launching new investment products for our clients and structuring transactions in order to capitalize on business opportunities while mitigating risk. Schroders’ Global Legal Team has professionals in New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taiwan, Zurich and Singapore.
Responsibilities
As an intern with the Americas Legal Team, you will use the knowledge and skills you’ve developed in class and apply those in a professional setting to further develop your career-related skills and competencies. Specifically, you will work with business and legal professionals and perform the following general corporate activities:
- Set objectives for learning and for professional behavior (for example: acquiring new technical skills (WorkSite or Excel), building interpersonal skills (communicating effectively, managing your time, prioritizing, and handling difficult colleagues), learning corporate and securities law (within a global asset management firm);
- Review our employee handbook, performance appraisal guide, and the performance rating descriptions and guidance, so that you can form as view as to what it looks like to work for a professional organization;
- Review the Schroders values, as an example of the kinds of traits that large, global organizations might look for in their employees;
- To the extent possible, participate in topical meetings and phone calls;
- Attend calls and webinars, discuss those webinars in a team meeting and follow up with any questions to clarify understanding.
Additionally, responsibilities to include the following (under direct supervision of legal team):
- Conduct and report on legal research;
- Support contract review and negotiation;
- Assist with various legal department projects as needed;
- Work alongside lawyers and paralegals for hands-on corporate legal experience.
Basic Qualifications
- Completion of at least one year of law school
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to clearly articulate ideas
- Highly motivated and adaptable; the ability to work on a team of diverse individuals
- Proactive; the ability to respond creatively and quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure, changing environment
- Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity
- Keen interest in asset management and financial markets
Compensation
Schroders offers a base salary in a range of $35 per hour for this position.
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
Schedule
5 days a week; 9:00–5:00 (as agreed between Schroders and selected Intern). Note this is a summer internship; exact start and end dates to be determined between Schroders and selected intern.
