Your mission
The role of Technical Manager - Systems involves close partnership with the System suppliers (lighting, sound, video, sfx) to ensure they successfully deliver their elements of ESC25 and that they have the necessary support to do so. This includes ensuring the load in and load out schedules keep to plan, liaising with all departments to resolve conflicts and ensuring a high standard of finish in the pre-production phase (3 days: March + April 2025) and production phase (45 days: 7th April to 22 May 2025).
The role will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Supports the Technical Director Show on operational 'day to day' activities by being the first contact for Systems suppliers when there are questions or issues to resolve
- Escalates any significant issues to the Technical Director show as required
- Overseas the Load In and Load Out of the Arena during the shifts where the majority of Systems work is taking place (this will include night shift work), works with the Technical Director Show and/or Technical Manager - Nights to ensure the work remains on schedule and identifying issues with scheduling and formulating solutions
- Ensures general ESC25 information and more specific production/technical information is properly communicated to the Systems suppliers
- Ensure the correct maintenance & programming night works are completed satisfactorily and do not affect rehearsals during the day
- Coordinates with all the relevant Production departments, including lighting, video, sound, cameras, rigging, comms, site and SFX
- Deputise for the Technical Director Show and/or Technical Manager - Nights as required
- Taking reasonably practicable steps to ensure production work is carried out without risks to health or safety, including contributing to, and reviewing. the planning & safety paperwork as required
- Comply and respond to all SRG procedural, administration, and operational guidelines, and instructions
Your profile
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the live event sector, particular with similar responsibilities overseeing large groups of staff & suppliers. At least 5 of these years spent specialising in lighting, sound, video or SFX installation and removal
- Excellent conflict resolution for scheduling, space planning & logistical challenges
- Great people skills and the ability to manage and direct a team
- CAD proficiency, particularly on taking measurements and understanding complicated plans a must
- Broad knowledge of the various production disciplines very useful
- Fluent in written & spoken English a must to ensure effective communication within a diverse, multinational production team. Fluency in German also beneficial
