Scope and summary of the role
The System Engineer will be based at Gunvor’s office in Istanbul (with a hybrid work setup) and reports to the System Engineer Team Lead. The System Engineer is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure globally. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life cycle.
The primary role is the provision of 3rd-level infrastructure support for all IT Systems. Also provide telephone/email/remote technical support to other offices as required for centralized systems accessible globally, e.g., email, active directory, virtualization, etc.
Key tasks

Administer Exchange (O365 & On-prem) server and mail connectors (including email gateways) and an international multi-site environment

Develop and maintain procedures and processes needed to administer an Active Directory / MS Exchange

Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements

Administer, maintain, deploy, enhance server products and platforms (Physical and virtual servers and storage)

Upgrade and configure system software that supports Gunvor business applications

Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis following change management procedures.

Oversee the personnel responsible to create, change, and delete user accounts per request (including Active directory and SharePoint).

Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server recourses, and system and application logs.

Recommends / Establishes policies on system use and services

Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

Develop and maintain documentation of infrastructure.

Microsoft Exchange O365 & on-Prem / Intune / VMWare AirWatch / Veritas Vault /Proofpoint Messaging systems maintenance, administration and support

Escalate problems to management, if necessary

Collaborate with Global IT

Ensure that systems are managed per established SLA (Service Level Agreement)

Support for global deployment will require off-hours support across multiple time zones.
Essential Skills and Experience
-
Experience managing/deploying Microsoft Exchange, Windows servers, Active directory
-
Experience architecting messaging environments (design, implementation and administration)

Disaster Recovery experience with Exchange 2013 or later
-
5+ years’ administrating experience and support of other network-related products such as AD, networking and related technical infrastructure

3+ years’ experience with Microsoft Windows Servers 2012 and later, Microsoft Exchange 2013 and later
-
3+ years’ administrating experience and support VMWARE and VEEAM
-
Experience with storage systems

Fluent in English (spoken and written) and work in an international / multi-cultural environment

Knowledge of Change Management and Incident Management procedure
-
MCSE certificate will be highly desirable

Excellent communication skill

Excellent problem-solving skills required
