The Position
Reporting to the Head of Group Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) you will work with peers and less experienced team members to manage the execution of M&A transactions across divisions and for all Roche entities. This comprises of project and stakeholder management in taking on responsibility for the overall transaction execution, including valuation works(rNPV / DCF, comparable valuation on trading/transaction multiples, broker views, share price and buy-in analysis etc.), financial analysis, critical review of business case assumptions & synergies, sophisticated offer structuring & design of deal terms, leading negotiations and presenting to our Senior Management. You will also be coordinating interactions with bankers, external Corporate Due Diligence providers, and other advising parties. Additionally and in particular, you will be responsible for the following:

Cross functional collaboration on M&A transactions with: Business Development of both Pharma and Diagnostics divisions (strategy, science and integration), Legal M&A (who also team up with external law firms) and finance colleagues (tax, accounting, treasury, investor relation)

Supporting both Pharma and Diagnostics divisions in Strategic Reviews and M&A landscaping exercises

Acting as point of contact for investment bankers and other third-party advisors supporting us in the execution of transactions

Actively contributing towards the mentoring and coaching of less experienced team members and/or peers (with no formal direct reports)
You will have a Business / Economics / Finance degree, or pair a Science degree with holding an MBA. Experience in Life Sciences (ideally pharma) with a strong finance background is essential for this position. You will also bring a minimum of 10 years in hands-on business development and / or M&A transaction experience, with a proven track record of autonomous deal execution (including deals above $500m) comprising the following types of transactions: private, Venture Capital backed, and public, with a high degree of complexity. Prior experience in Corporate Business Development, M&A, Investment Banking or Private Equity is preferred. Furthermore, you will fulfill the following requirements:

Strong knowledge of valuation and finance relevant for M&A

Specific experience and knowledge of M&A in the US is a plus

Leadership skills and experience of cross functional collaboration, combined with the ability to influence effectively without direct authority

Excellent communication and presentation skills – with capacity to operate successfully at all levels of the organization

Strong stakeholder management, strategic, analytical and planning skills

Ability to succeed in multi-cultural environments as a dynamic, pro-active and fast thinker

Scientific knowledge would be an advantage

Flexibility to travel c. 10% of time, primarily to the US (depending on projects)
