(Senior) LPG/NGL Analyst (f/m/d)

Are you passionate about energy markets and have a knack for quantitative analysis? Axpo Group is seeking a skilled LPG Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to support our proprietary trading activities through comprehensive market analysis and predictive modeling.

What you will do:


  • Support the NGLs Trading desk by building predictive models based on fundamental analysis, shiptracking, global waterborne product flows, petrochemical margins, weather patterns, midstream and downstream infrastructure, and trends.

  • Build detailed and in-depth analysis for key NGL trading hubs/countries, focusing particularly on the US, China, and Middle East.

  • Aggregate and automate global waterborne LPG shipping data, monitoring major export/import terminals in real time.

  • Explore and recommend trade ideas based on geographical arbitrage, time spreads, and inter-commodity trades.

  • Assist traders in preparing analysis for physical cargo tenders and recommend optimal hedging strategies.

  • Respond efficiently to extemporaneous desk/trader requests for fundamental information, data, and forecasts based on new data, news, and market developments.

  • Continuously develop and improve models and data quality through ongoing market observation, validation, and back-testing.

  • Timely anticipate and evaluate fundamental changes in NGL markets and other price-influencing factors.

What you bring & who you are:


  • University degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or Chemistry.

  • 2+ years of experience building supply and demand models for Petroleum Products and/or gas liquids in a major Oil company, Trading house, or Hedge Fund.

  • In-depth knowledge of the US natural gas upstream and midstream industry and infrastructure.

  • In-depth knowledge of Asian and US petrochemical industries.

  • Deep understanding of refinery and petrochemical economics and their impact on feedstocks and co-products.

  • Experience with price setting mechanisms and derivatives markets in a trading environment.

  • Ability to translate market mechanics into quantitative supply/demand models.

  • Experience with connecting to data APIs and using data scraping techniques.

  • Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail.

  • Strong coding and database skills.

  • Good command of MS Office, especially Excel.

  • Ability to dissect, structure, and solve complex tasks.

  • Fluency in English; Chinese is an advantage.

  • Ability to work under pressure and in volatile market conditions.

  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
