At Bavarian Nordic, we are dedicated to continuously enhancing our EHS performance, making it a core element of all business operations. We are seeking a Global Construction & Maintenance Safety Lead, to be a Global Program Lead and join our expanding EHS Organization driving our EHS vision forward.

This hybrid position, located in either Kvistgaard, Denmark; or Bern, Switzerland requires travel to other Bavarian Nordic locations as needed 15-20% and reports directly to the Global EHS Director.

Your Impact

The Global Program Lead will develop and implement best-in-class safety programs for Construction & Maintenance activities. Work together with Global Project Engineering and Global Operations on our expansion projects. This role combines leadership with operational oversight, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement through Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.

In your responsibilities and tasks, you will:

  • Develop and enhance safety protocols, including Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, LOTO, Working at Height, Permit to Work Systems, and provide technical support to facilities
  • Lead EHS activities for construction projects and shutdowns, and manage contractor safety programs
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, conduct audits, and oversee risk assessments such as Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Safe Plan of Action (SPA), including incident investigations
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by driving behavioral changes and integrating safety into all operational activities
  • Collaborate with Global Engineering, Technical Services teams, preferred Contracting Partners and Consultants, EHS specialists globally, report safety KPIs, and support global initiatives

Are you our next pioneer?

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical-, Chemical- Electrical-, Instrumentation Engineering, Workplace Health and Safety or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years in an industrial safety role, with experience in contractor and construction project safety management
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulatory standards; HOP principles are beneficial
  • Core competencies in analytical thinking, communication, customer focus, collaboration, results orientation, organizational awareness, and change management
  • Proficiency in English; Danish or German is a plus
