Position Summary:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of rare disease patients? Join Alexion, AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease group, as a Senior Director of Global Strategic Alliance Development for Rare Disease. Reporting to the VP of Alexion Corporate Affairs, this role offers an exciting opportunity to be a strategic partner to Senior Rare Disease Business Leaders and the rare disease community. You will play a crucial role in shaping and promoting an environment that provides timely access to high-quality care and innovative therapies to rare disease patients.
Key Responsibilities:

Advocacy and Partnerships: Establish and manage relationships with leading patient advocacy groups (e.g., Global Genes, EURODIS/RDI, Everylife, CORD, and NORD). Work together to educate the community on the rare disease policy landscape and co-develop resources to support greater access to innovative therapies.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with markets to develop and leverage high-impact stakeholder partnerships. Drive business objectives and create meaningful engagement with strategic partners.

Patient Insights: Provide insights on the patient, caregiver, and community perspectives on rare disease policies at the global level.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in partnership with the global policy team and across various functions and regions to advance rare disease policy priorities and optimize portfolio access.

Strategic Opportunities: Identify and engage with strategic external opportunities with trade associations, societies, think tanks, and other key influencers to support business objectives.
Education, Behavioral Competencies, and Skills:

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree required; PhD or MS desirable.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years in pharmaceutical experience, particularly in patient advocacy, healthcare policy, or market access environment. Experience working with rare diseases and a variety of stakeholders is crucial.

Skillset: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business skills. Ability to research complex policy issues and lead qualitative and quantitative analyses.

Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders, both in writing and verbally.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Collaboration: Demonstrated success in a matrixed environment, particularly within a Corporate Affairs organization.

Strategic Implementation: Proven history of strategic and tactical plan implementation with measurable results.
