The Global Pre-Embarkation Training Manager is responsible for overseeing and standarisation of the global network of training centres dedicated to pre-embarkation training for Cruise Division of MSC Group. The manager will oversee the design of the curricula, ensuring that the training delivered aligns with the company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and international maritime regulations. This role involves working with the field-based Operations Training Manager, coordinating with local school administrators, ensuring curricula consistency between the schools and onboard training, managing quality control, and providing guidance to ensure the effectiveness of the training programs.
Training Center Management:
• Oversee the setup, build, and equipping of training centres in collaboration with corporate managers, ensuring all training agreements and contracts align with MSC Cruises' business performance needs.
• Ensure that all training facilities adhere to MSC Cruises' standards, providing a high-quality training environment.
Administration Management:
• Oversee the Operations Training Manager’s effective planning and execution of regular school visits and monitoring of assigned training facilities.
• Set, monitor, and track all pre-embarkation training targets and KPIs, making necessary adjustments to training programmes when required.
• Supervise the auditing and reporting processes of training centres to maintain consistent standards and compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management:
• Serve as the primary liaison between the training centres and MSC Cruise Division HQs, ensuring effective communication and alignment of goals.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, local governments, and regulatory bodies in each country.
Budget Management and Reporting:
• Develop, manage, and oversee the budget for all training centres, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Prepare and present regular reports to Head of L&D on the performance, challenges, and strategic direction of the training centres.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and resource optimization across the training network.
Trainer and Curriculum Management:
• Ensure the curriculum across all training centres is consistent, up-to-date, and reflects the latest SOPs, maritime regulations, and onboard procedures.
• Coordinate the development of training materials that are engaging, relevant, and aligned with the company’s operational needs. Co-design training where appropriate and/or necessary.
• Implement a standardised process to ensure all trainees meet the required competencies before embarking on their roles.
• Manage the global network of pre-embarkation trainers, ensuring effective delivery of training programs across all locations.
Continuous Improvement:
• Stay informed of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in hospitality training and maritime operations.
• Lead initiatives to innovate and improve the training programs, incorporating new techniques and methodologies as appropriate.
• Ensure that the training centres adapt to the evolving needs of the cruise industry and MSC Cruise Division operational objectives.
Corporate Management:
• Develop and implement standardised procedures across the entire training network to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Ensure that all compliance documentation for training entities and contracts with providers is up-to-date and aligns with MSC Cruises' regulatory and corporate standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Training & Development, or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing multi-location training centres or similar facilities, preferably in the hospitality or cruise industry.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a training and development role within the hospitality or cruise industry.
• Strong understanding of international maritime regulations and hospitality SOPs.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-cultural teams.
• Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple training centres and teams.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse stakeholders, and collaborating with corporate managers and trainers globally.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to travel and adapt to different cultural environments.
