Role Summary:
The Project Management team is responsible for delivering paid-for projects to a high standard, ensuring that GTT recognize the associated revenue in a reliable and predictable manner and that the client experience is excellent, leading to those clients acting as references regarding the ability for GTT to deliver on its promises.
The Project Management team works closely with the sales divisions to jointly develop and support viable plans for delivering connectivity solutions to customers. This Project Management team is part of the GTT Professional Service offering and so funded by the client, so needs to also sell its own value to the client and ensure it has a positive input into the company cash flow and balance sheet.
The Technical Project Manager is to demonstrate the GTT employee values and will be a focal point for activities with our sales colleagues and is responsible to deliver the company values in alignment with the points above.
Job Scope:
Report to Director, Project Management, working within the GTT’s Project Management team. The role will interact with, but not limited to, the following internal departments: Vendor Coordinator, Order Assurance, Design and Software Engineering, Sales, Sales Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and Product Managers to deliver high quality products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for ensuring commitments made during the sales engagement process are delivered by the EU and US Service Delivery and wider teams. He/She will work for the Director of Project Management, Americas.
The Technical Project Manager will work closely with the Project Management team, the Service Delivery Teams, the Pre-Sales Support team, regional Sales Teams and regional Operational teams including other Professional services teams to ensure that all aspects of client experience are aligned and that delivery resources are deployed in alignment with the promises made to the client.
Key responsibilities will be:
- Deliver Complex Projects assigned to the Technical Project Manager to the high levels of client satisfaction and financial acumen expected of the GTT delivery teams.
- Deliver strategically important projects or Complex Projects as requested by the Director Project Management, Americas. These may be small in scale but have importance to GTT that overshadows their size.
- Oversee the quality and client satisfaction of Complex Projects assigned to other project managers, ensuring that the relevant documentation, risk management and planning are applied to these Complex Projects.
- Assure compliance with Quality Gates Principles as per the GTT PM Methodology.
- Manage virtual team of Project Managers assigned to support the Technical Project Manager on these responsibilities.
- Weekly on the RAG status of Complex Projects in Americas. Other reporting areas may be added or removed as agreed with the Director Project Management, Americas. Stakeholder management on Tactical level within GTT and with customer and suppliers and providing input / reporting for the Strategical level.
- Business travel to participate in customer meetings and flexibility of working hours.
- Build and manage Americas Service Delivery collateral that demonstrates the GTT approach to Complex Projects Management that can be deployed to support the sales team with potential customers and by others to manage the delivery of Complex Projects.
- Minimize GTT’s commercial and legal risk and exposure on all Complex Projects during the delivery phase.
- Align with the Directors, Project Management, to support alignment of the Global GTT PM community operating the same process and systems and providing the same client experience, independent client location. Support this by managing and make available the relevant Lesson Learned for the different GTT Products or Services
- Ensure that any bespoke delivery requirements that are agreed and approved during the sales process are delivered by the Complex Projects and the relevant party in the Americas Service Delivery team. If these represent significant risk to GTT, document this risk before it becomes an issue, and present to Director Project Management, Americas.
- Work with the sales community to provide support to explain and plan project rollout and all service delivery elements in the pre-sales phase.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Evidence of ability to manage C-suite interactions with Clients, Vendors, Partners and internal GTT departments.
- A strong understanding of ICT or networking principles.
- In exceptional circumstance provide support as executive contact and Project Sponsor for high value GTT projects.
- Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent matrix management and ability to build strong cross-departmental relationships
- Proven ability to manage projects from business case through to implementation.
- Understanding of additional technology such as hosting, voice, and security.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Telecom Engineering is preferred.
- Proven experience in a technical project manager or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of project management and methodologies.
- Strong proficiency in the MS Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Desired Experience/Qualifications:
- PMP Certification (or equivalent in six sigma, agile, or scrum methodologies) is highly preferred.
