Specifically, Lilly has established several new teams focused on advancing our customer engagement model through digital channels and enhancing our consumer experience.
Our new Global Customer office is designed to minimize obstacles in the consumer experience, helping patients initiate and adhere to Lilly medicines prescribed by their healthcare provider. We are growing and looking for attorneys to support our "Off to a Good Start" programs. Our initiatives require experienced advertising and marketing attorneys, preferably in the life sciences industry, to support Lilly’s centralized commercial and consumer operations, as we seek to modernize the way we interact with patients and customers in an increasingly digital and consumer centric world. These will be strategic business partners as Lilly continues its journey to be the premier data-driven, customer-centric healthcare organization.
Do you have significant experience working with marketing and advertising teams, in both traditional advertising channels and innovative digital spaces? We need attorneys with global legal expertise in applicable law pertaining to eCommerce and virtual care (including telehealth, dispensing, health and wellness, wearables, connected devices/platforms). We're looking for someone with experience working and launching consumer products and solutions globally, as they will be required to advise the teams on a range of legal issues, such as, but not limited to, FDA labeling and advertising requirements, the Anti-kickback Statute and its safe harbors, the False Claims Act, antitrust law, unfair competition law, consumer protection, data rights and privacy, FTC Regulations and Guidelines, marketing and advertising law, commercial law, and business transactions.
Specific activities may include the following:
- Working with Lilly Legal colleagues and cross-functional partners in supporting Lilly's Global Customer Office and its commercial operations and consumer organizations.
- Working with 3rd parties as part of a digital ecosystem buildout
- Serving as day-to-day strategic business and legal advisor including support of the following:
- Creating better end to end experiences for patient care through digital and/or virtual solutions;
- Identification, assessment and mitigation of risks associated with adoption of virtual care platforms;
- Counseling on 1st party data strategies and patient privacy rights;
- Development of policies, procedures and playbooks for new initiatives across Lilly's commercial operations and consumer organizations
- Supporting the enhancement of Lilly's corporate brand strategy and campaign in new digital spaces.
- Providing guidance and support as Lilly develops tools and capabilities to advance customer engagements and uses engagement data to drive organizational decisions.
- Coordinating with privacy and data security teams to ensure compliance with internal policies as well as external laws and regulations.
- Coordinating with copyright, trademark and IP counsel to ensure appropriate and consistent application of legal requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from accredited school
- Current license to practice law in at least one of the fifty states; eligible to be admitted to the bar in Indiana
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience either practicing as a member of a law firm in a relevant area of law, in house at a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company’s law department or a combination of the two
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Experience counseling in the eCommerce space, advertising in new digital channels, or virtual care initiatives or similarly related areas
- Negotiate and draft commercial agreements, especially in media sales and marketing relationships
- Working knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing laws and regulations as practiced by innovative, multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Experience counseling on new digital capabilities, digital health, utilization of AI or machine learning, or other rapidly evolving areas of law
- Experience collaborating with diverse entities as part of a digital ecosystem buildout (payer, HCO, employer, PBM, government, pharmacy, etc.)
- Practical experience with digital technology, social media, and streaming products
- Familiarity with data analytics, business intelligence processes, privacy, data protection, and consumer protection laws.
- Expertise in advancing strategies and tactics, advising on complex commercial agreements, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Some travel required (US and limited international).
Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $177,000 - $259,600 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
