Principal Responsibilities
Develop and implement local medical strategies as well as the strategically aligned tactical plan (also responsible for the execution) for the respective assets/indications. Will work cross-functionally as well as closely global medical affairs (GMA) and other countries to transform medical practice. Responsible for the following:

Lead and manage entire Neurology TA to demonstrate high performance through excellent scientific leadership, people management skills creating safe and productive work environment. This must be performed through in-depth understanding of compliance and the roles and objectives of medical affairs.

Develop and motivate people to grow and learn continuously

Present as the therapeutic area country medical representation of Alexion medical affairs
-
Provide support and supervise MSL team for their excellent quality and productivity of in-field communication and insight gathering
-
Present or supervise the medical representation at relevant Japan Product Teams (JPTs)
-
Serve as the Medical Affairs medical expert for the cross functional group
-
Support the other representing functions on the key activities as applicable, including product strategy development and other cross-functional activities engaging KOLs, important external stakeholders and/or in-depth scientific discussion

Develop in-year local medical strategy, implementation, and budget planning
-
Monitor execution of medical plan with regular and timely checking of budget status
-
Provide medical review and supervision to ensure alignment between company’s strategy and the research proposals including tracking progress and the review of the reports

Provide clear strategic guidance to scientific communication, internal medical training, external medical education (Congress or stand-alone symposium, digital program, and other forms), Medical info, in developing functional plans

Provide strategic guidance for content development and presentation for external medical education or other scientific programs

Participate in therapeutic area global training programs for Alexion personnel and drive effective implementation in local team i.e., through conducting local follow up programs.

Medical affairs review of field medical tools, internal commercial training material

Medical affairs review of congress abstracts and publications ➢Establishes strategic partnerships with centers of excellence and KOLs in areas of scientific interest and serves as conduit for flow of information both out to the medical community and into the company:

Provide Supervision and support for local KOL medical engagement strategy, which establishes and/or enhance partnerships with key academic institutions and stakeholders

Provide Supervision and support for planning, designing, and managing medical Advisory Boards and gather insight from regional/local medical Advisory Boards
Essential Qualifications
-
Must have a scientific degree or strong industry experience in medical affairs. Pharmacy degree, Master of science, or similar degree is desired. Ph.D. or M.D. will be highly appreciated, but only when applicable

Must have experience in Medical Affairs function (3+ years). People management is highly desired, but not mandatory when being able to demonstrate excellent leadership / management skills in such as cross-functional projects

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in both Japanese and English.

Experience/ability to work in a matrix cross-functional environment

Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated track record and ability to drive results as an effective a team member and project leader in both virtual and F2F environment

Proven ability to manage budget and resources

Strong business acumen

Ability to build and strengthen partnership with GMA and commercial counterpart

Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions

Excellent problem solving, organizational, and negotiating skills
