As a dynamically growing non-profit organisation with a global presence, we continuously work on transforming and future-proofing our ICT infrastructure and operational processes.
The Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d) role provides an exciting opportunity to lead our cloud transformation and manage the operations of our hybrid infrastructure. In this role, you'll operate at the intersection of strategic development and practical implementation, with a goal of ensuring our cloud and on-premises environments are stable, secure, and efficient.
Your duties
- Lead Cloud Transformation: Responsible for migrating our ICT infrastructure to the Microsoft 365 environment, particularly Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and ensuring secure, efficient synchronization between on-premises and cloud systems using Entra Identity and Active Directory.
- On-Premises and Hybrid Infrastructure: Plan, install, and configure new on-premises servers for AD, DNS, DHCP, and backups, and establish a hosted, redundant server to ensure stable operations and protect local infrastructure.
- Data Backup and Recovery: Set up and manage the backup environment; monitor backup strategies to ensure data integrity and recoverability, while maintaining flexibility for future organizational needs.
- Migration and Virtualization: Participate hands-on in the replacement of Citrix and VMware with Windows 365 and AVD, including migrating existing applications and systems for seamless usage and continuous system availability.
- Optimization and Operational Continuity: Monitor the performance of the cloud and on-premises infrastructure, proactively troubleshoot, and implement continuous improvements to enhance system efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Documentation and Support: Create technical documentation and share knowledge within the team to facilitate the operation and use of cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions, thereby enhancing the team's knowledge base.
Our requirements
- Technical Expertise and Experience: Several years of experience managing hybrid and cloud-based infrastructures (Microsoft Azure, Windows 365, AVD) and strong knowledge in configuring and maintaining AD, DNS, and DHCP in both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Experience in Virtualization and Cloud Migration: Practical experience with virtualization technologies (Citrix, VMware) and migrating to Microsoft cloud services, along with a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities in hybrid environments.
- Backup and Recovery Knowledge: Experience in setting up and managing backup solutions, such as QNAP and external storage, as well as understanding cloud backup strategies and cost optimization.
- Analytical Skills and Problem-Solving Competence: Ability to quickly analyze technical issues, implement solutions, and carry out continuous optimization measures to ensure reliable infrastructure operations.
- Team Orientation and Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities to convey technical concepts clearly, foster close collaboration with other ICT teams, and ensure all infrastructure changes are well-documented and aligned.
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, or related areas are an advantage.
- Network Management and Security Protocol Knowledge to support hybrid and cloud infrastructure.
