Structural Engineer Master Thesis

As a master thesis intern at Hitachi Energy, you will support our development team in setting up a Finite Element automation that enables rapid assessment of base material, bolted connections, and weld seams in electrical equipment subjected to random vibrations. The aim for the creation of this automation is to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and early identification of design weaknesses during production or operational phases.

Your Responsibilities

  • Witnessing vibration tests using shaker tables to assess electrical equipment behavior under random loads

  • Implementing statistical methodologies for fatigue assessment of base materials, weld seams, and bolted connections

  • Collaborating with experts to identify design weaknesses early in production or operational phases

  • Exploring automation techniques to enhance efficiency in fatigue assessment processes

Your Background

  • Familiarity with structural dynamics and how structures respond to random and shock loads

  • Knowledge of statistical methodologies for assessing fatigue life in materials and connections

  • Experience with software tools such as ANSYS Workbench, nCode DesignLife, and Python scripting

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills

  • Fluency in English and Italian
