Position Summary
The junior accountant will assist with daily accounting operations and transactional tasks for a few European entities. The role is part of the Group accounting team and will report to the Group Accountant. The Group accounting team serves approximately 5 legal entities across different countries. This entry-level position is designed for someone eager to learn and grow in an international finance environment, with training and mentorship provided to support professional development.
Responsibilities
- Daily booking of transactional entries (e.g., A/R - incoming cash payments, A/P - outgoing cash payments).
- Support in calculating, posting, and processing journal entries (e.g., accruals, prepayments).
- Perform basic Balance Sheet reconciliations (e.g., GL ledger vs subledger such as A/R, A/P).
- Assist in cash management processes and preparation of bank reconciliations/overviews.
- Support intercompany balances reconciliations across the region.
- Process Accounts Payable invoices, purchase order transactions, and employee expense submissions.
- Collaborate with the sales order administration team on order releases and invoice-related tasks.
- Provide support in VAT returns preparation.
- Assist with the A/R cash collection process and monitoring of bad debts.
- Contribute to monthly/half-yearly/yearly closings in line with Swiss GAAP FER.
- Support statutory audits and local legal accounting under the guidance of the supervisor.
- Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects and provide general team support.
- Actively interact with peers, suppliers, and other stakeholders as needed.
Experience & Qualifications
- Recent graduate or 0-1 year of accounting experience (internships included).
- Familiarity with accounting principles; willingness to learn Swiss GAAP FER.
- Basic understanding of ERP systems or a strong motivation to learn (experience with Microsoft Navision / Business Central is a plus).
- Great attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and analytical mindset.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Good command of English and German language.
