What you'll do
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a multifaceted, successful and market-leading organization in a high profile position focused on designing and driving innovative growth strategies to use the transformation currently happening in the Maritime Industry. The role supports the long-term business growth of the Inmarsat Maritime Business Unit, and leads a diverse portfolio of initiatives.
With a consistent record of accomplishment in business development, the successful candidate will lead the case development, planning and execution of key strategic programmes. Responsibilities will include identifying innovation opportunities, creating the vision, business model and case through research and financial modelling, leading collaboration with relevant partners, and ensuring effective coordination with relevant teams across the Inmarsat business.
Applicants will have shown successful execution experience on sophisticated techno-commercial business opportunities, and be able to navigate the value chain for the provision of communications and related services.
The day-to-day
- With a validated skillset that includes entrepreneurship, adaptability and agility, support, and when appropriate lead, the development and execution of new critical initiatives and programmes that support Inmarsat’s Maritime Business Unit growth pillars
- Provide detailed market analysis, market requirements documents and business cases as appropriate.
- Develop detailed financial analysis that will support risk management and decision-making
- Develop the requisite market intelligence that will support informed decision-making and revenue growth.
- Participate in and/or speak at international conferences, seminars and trade shows to support Inmarsat’s thought leadership, and maintain and grow a solid network throughout the industry and the satellite telecom world;
- Act as subject matter expect as and when needed to support business unit leadership
- Work as an integral part of the Maritime Growth Markets team, collectively responsible for the delivery of business growth, new business models, market intelligence, strategy formulation and execution.
What you'll need
- Strong experience in business and strategy development, preferably in the maritime industry
- Demonstrable ability to understand the interactions inherent of a complex Ecosystem like the one of the Maritime Industry and the relevant challenges across vessel operators, third party application providers and other applicable collaborators.
- Ability to work independently to undertake market research, assess business models and build a business case.
- Track record of building complex and multi-scenario financial models, incl. cash flow and income statements modelling.
- Demonstrable curiosity for and interest in innovation ecosystems, whether in the maritime or satellite communication sector, and an understanding of how the various ecosystem participant operate.
- The ability to influence others at all levels in the organisation and to work effectively under pressure in a fast pace moving environment.
- Vision on how to achieve long sector objectives, with the presence and interpersonal skills to convince any audience of the route to success and with the ability to build strong and powerful relationships, internally and externally.
- Strong ability to understand sophisticated situations and a talent for planning and driving strategies.
- Strong presentation skills, credibility and public speaking ability.
- Demonstrable track record of integrity and commercial competence
What will help you on the job
- Experience in building high-level partner relationships and proven experience of negotiating & handling commercial partner agreements
- Academic background (Bachelor or Masters)
- Knowledge of satellite Communications (but not essential)
- Proficient in any other languages will be considered an advantage (business standard English crucial)
