The role
We are looking for an employee benefits group underwriter who not only bring technical expertise but also is commercially minded, enjoys interaction with customers and has an interest in working within an international and challenging environment. In this role, you would be the primary point of contact for any technical related topics in relation to our captive customers and you will also be working together with the sales teams on acquiring new customers.
What you will do
- Provide professional underwriting support to captives for the onboarding and renewal of any employee benefit group scheme being fronted through the our EB network, whilst ensuring that profitability targets are met.
- Collaborate with sales teams to help acquire new corporate customers.
- Contribute to the request for proposal process alongside the sales team, by bringing technical expertise to the proposal.
- Support the implementation process for newly acquired captive customers, by setting-up the reinsurance program, which includes the reinsurance agreement wording and any credit risk related matters.
- Evaluate a captive’s reinsurance protection needs and provide offers in line with profitability targets and risk appetite.
- Promote ZGEBS captive expertise externally by:
- Representing ZGEBS in finalist presentations;
- Communicating on a regular basis with captive customers, addressing their needs;
- Promoting ZGEBS expertise externally, in professional conferences, with employee benefit consultants.
- Preparation of credit risk exposure calculations and pricing for reinsurance protections offered to customers.
- Wider underwriting support to the ZGEBS underwriting team is expected, such as deputising other underwriters during their absences.
What you bring
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the pricing and underwriting of Group Life and/or Medical Insurance schemes;
- Degree in mathematics, finance or similar;
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills;
- Understanding of insurance programs and risk solutions;
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (including Word, PowerPoint; Excel);
- Experience in setting up reinsurance agreements would be an advantage;
- Strong communication skills. At ease in presenting to and discussing with customers and communicating about technical topics to a wide range of stakeholders, including sales and operation functions and external customers;
- Ability to quickly understand and make use of new technical information in relation to risk assessments;
- Ability to understand, interpret and translate customer requirements into deliverables.
