Our client is a Swiss start-up dedicated to developing a novel, mechanism-based biologic treatment for Psoriasis. In collaboration with a leading research team at Lausanne University in Switzerland, they aim to advance the global understanding of autoinflammation mechanisms and their roles in Psoriasis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
The role
They are looking for a Research Associate to perform the following activities:
Leading research work into novel indications for anti-IL-26 antibodies:
Regularly review the literature on IL-26 biology, autoinflammation mechanisms, and novel pathogenesis mechanisms of autoimmune diseases.
Provide comprehensive reports to the rest of the team.
Collaborate with the researchers at Lausanne University to determine areas of interest for further research.
Research planning and study design:
Work with the head of R&D to develop a research plan based on the identified areas of interest.
Request proposals from Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and make necessary adjustments to protocols
Prepare budget for the proposed studies.
Collaboration and Communication:
Maintain daily communication with the company's global team via email and video conferences to align on project goals and updates.
Engage in regular, structured communication with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and research partners to ensure project timelines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
Be open to visiting CROs in person, both locally and abroad, in Europe, North America and China.
Lead the communication with scientific advisors – provide them with regular updates and seek advice in a timely manner.
Work with the patenting strategy advisor to align research goals and timelines with the patenting strategy.
Travel:
Regular travel to the University of Lausanne and CHUV will be expected to participate in scientific meetings.
The position requires travel abroad to CROs in Europe and Asia
Skills and Qualifications
The client is looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in biomedical research, with a focus on disease mechanisms and mechanism-based therapeutics.
Knowledge of and experience with monoclonal antibody R&D
Specialisation in autoimmune disease biology
Proven ability to conduct quality literature research, generate research questions and design pre-clinical studies.
Knowledge in research methodologies, both in wet and dry labs.
PhD in biotechnology, immunology or equivalent. Current PhD candidates doing their degree part-time or Postdocs working part-time are encouraged to apply. Applicants who hold an MSc or MRes in the relevant field and can demonstrate sufficient experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered equally.
Experience working remotely with global teams and managing cross-functional projects.
Exceptional organisational skills and ability to work independently.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, particularly in data analysis and interpretation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration across different teams within company.
Experience in budget management for research projects (preferred).
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for pre-clinical and clinical trials (preferred).
