ROLE DESCRIPTION
• We are searching for an enthusiastic Nautical Instructor to join our team of trainers. This role involves shaping the next generation of nautical professionals and offers an exciting opportunity to share your passion for the river cruising industry. You will utilize cutting-edge simulator technology and innovative training methods. Your role will be crucial in developing talent within Viking’s fleet, contributing to the growth of our Officers and Sailors.
• As a Nautical Instructor, you will play a key role in supporting onboard trainers and ensuring that our training programs meet the highest standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Training:
o Deliver engaging classroom and practical training on a wide range of nautical topics, from ship maneuvering to safety procedures.
o Facilitate simulator-based training exercises, guiding trainees through real-life scenarios and debriefs.
• Simulator & Digital Learning:
o Operate advanced simulators to create immersive learning environments.
o Design and refine simulator scenarios to enhance navigational skills on inland waterways.
o Lead digital learning sessions, including online webinars and e-learning initiatives, utilizing platforms like Microsoft Teams.
• Talent Development:
o Participate in the development and execution of talent management programs that ensure a pipeline of skilled professionals for Viking’s fleet.
o Assess trainee progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and helping them reach the next level of their nautical career.
o Support the continuous development of Officers and Sailors through personalized coaching and mentorship.
o Assist with the organization of exams and certifications, working closely with recognized external institutions.
• Reporting:
o Report on the overall progress and outcomes of training programs, ensuring transparency and ongoing improvement.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven experience in nautical training or a related leadership role within the nautical industry.
• A track record of success as a Captain or First Officer on European inland waterways is highly advantageous.
• Passionate about sharing knowledge and advancing others in their careers.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor diverse teams.
• Fluent in English, with the ability to convey complex topics in an understandable and motivating way.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams).
