What you'll do
Viasat is looking for an experienced engineer to work within the Regulatory Engineering team who will represent Viasat in 5G and 6G related standardization activities, including in relevant 3GPP and ETSI committees. Moreover, you will also represent the company in other regulatory committees and working groups, for example in ETSI or GSMA, the ITU and regional organizations in preparation for World Radiocommunication Conferences and on other spectrum and standards related matters.
The day-to-day
- Establish and maintain solid relationships with government officials and other partners participating in such meetings.
- Develop positions, strategies and input contributions for such meetings.
- Work collaboratively and constructively with the wider Viasat regulatory and technology teams to ensure coordination in the regulatory effort to support Viasat’s products and systems.
- Provide technical support on market access and business development activities.
- Advise Viasat’s market development, commercial and engineering teams on regulatory opportunities and risks that may affect our interests and business.
- Proactively and timely report on relevant developments.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Maths or another technical field and 5+ years of proven experience.
- Knowledge of satellite communications systems (link budgets, general radio theory and basic orbital mechanics), national and international spectrum regulations, policies and spectrum regulatory, registration and coordination processes, intra and inter-systems interference analysis.
- Knowledge of non-satellite wireless products, services and technologies including but not limited to 5G and 6G.
- Thorough knowledge of broadband communications, and radiofrequency spectrum technology preferred.
What will help you on the job
- Experience of working in international regulatory and standardization fora, such as 3GPP or ITU
- Willingness to participate in industry and spectrum related political events
- Knowledge of programming languages and/or interference analysis software desirable
