Lead, Enterprise Risk & Business Continuity Management

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
We are seeking an experienced strategic risk-management professional to join the Global Ethics and Compliance Team as the Associate Director of Enterprise Risk & Business Continuity Management. This senior subject matter expert (SME) will be an integral part of the ERM team and will be responsible for designing & implementing an effective enterprise-wide business continuity management governance framework that is consistent with general regulatory requirements, industry best practices and aligned with the enterprise risk management framework. In this key functional leadership role, you will be responsible for helping design, implement and continuously improve our global BCM & risk management programs to ensure the operational resilience & long-term success of the organization by implementing risk management practices and promoting a risk-aware culture. This successful candidate in this role will provide advice, help facilitate meaningful risk discussions and as such, interact with stakeholders across the organization at varying levels of authority, including Takeda’s executive team and their direct reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Risk Management
- Contribute to the global enterprise risk assessment and governance process
- Participate in processes to identify, analyze, manage, monitor, and report potential risks across the organization, including financial, strategic, operational, legal/compliance, sustainability, and reputational risks
- Conduct risk assessments and consolidate emerging risk themes; collaborate with other key stakeholder to integrate various risk assessments (e.g., compliance, privacy, or sustainability risk assessments)
- Ensure culture of risk management across the enterprise, including the Risk Coordinator community.
- Support the submission to internal governance bodies such as the Global Risk, Ethics & Compliance Committee (RECC) and Board of Directors and support external reporting as required
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation and business resilience measures, making recommendations for improvements as needed
- Maintain and oversee the relevant database(s) created to track critical remediation activities and status of project milestones, following up with key stakeholders when appropriate
Business Continuity Management
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the enterprise-wide business continuity management program including development of tools and instructional guides for the business
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining program processes and practices which effectively prepare the organization for long-term success and operational resilience
- Supports and/or leads processes that support BCM governance requirements as part of the enterprise-wide operational and risk management framework
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management and business continuity processes
- Ensure overall structure for enterprise BCM plans including Governance, Taxonomy, Process, and procedures
- Coordinate enterprise BCM for identified critical process and areas including reporting to the Global RECC
- Partner and work closely with the global crisis management team as well as other key stakeholders including, but limited to, global Data, Digital & Technology, Finance, Ethics & Compliance, Legal and Corporate Strategy
- Stay informed about industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks to proactively address potential threats
Risk Governance & Reporting
- Support the development of various risk reports for internal governance and external requirements
- Elevate organizational capabilities by ensuring the distribution of information and organizational learnings
- Embrace emerging technologies, such as AI, to enhance reporting as well as providing relevant information to strengthen learning models
Build Partnerships
- Lead or partner on initiatives to promote a culture of integrity and ethical conduct throughout the organization
- Provide expertise and strategic counsel to senior leaders within the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team and other global functions to evolve Takeda’s risk management framework and programs
- Partner and communicate regularly with senior leaders and members of the Compliance team to ensure consistency and efficiency in approach across Takeda’s business units
- Engages Learning & Development team in developing and delivering training programs to educate employees on business continuity and risk management practices, policies, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Data, Digital & Technology (DDT), to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management.

EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, audit or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in role of business continuity, operational resilience risk leader, preferably in a global pharma industry
- Professional Certification(s) in one or more of the following: CBCP, CBCI, MBCP, MBCI
- In-depth understanding of business continuity management and governance frameworks, strong knowledge of business continuity professional practices and protocols, operational risk management
- Experience in both leading and operationally supporting BCM and ERM programs
- Track record in BCM, ERM, and/or Operational Risk
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, curiosity mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated experience leading significant global cross-functional projects

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$149,100.00 - $234,300.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
