The Head of Communication & Public Affairs, MedTech China is a senior market leadership role, responsible for leading our communication and public affairs strategies for MedTech Asia Pacific’s largest market – China. The role reports to the VP, Communication & Public Affairs, MedTech Asia Pacific and its primary business partner is the President, MedTech China as well as the members of China Management Board. Leading with a team with both external and internal communications, the role is a key member of MedTech China’s Management Board and a member of the MedTech Asia Pacific Leadership Team.
The role will:
Lead the Communication & Public Affairs team in China to deliver for our business and for patients
- Lead the team to deliver operational excellence across employee communications and commercial communications to drive the reputation of our MedTech business and innovative solutions among key stakeholders.
- Implement highly competitive and best-practice communication and public affairs programs that set the benchmark in the industry.
- Coach, drive, lead and inspire the teams to develop cutting-edge communication and public affairs and disease awareness campaigns that accelerate business growth.
- Lead the development of mid- to long-term focused strategies that prepare the market environment for future innovative solutions to enter the market.
- Embed a winning culture in the organization to drive employee engagement, pride and advocacy.
- Lead the CSR efforts for MedTech China by developing engaging and meaningful CSR and volunteer programs and initiatives to create impact to our communities.
- Deeply understand the needs of our business partners and ensure our team is working closely to meet them.
- Develop key performance metrics and measurement tools, approaches, and systems to drive insights and performance.
- Manage and lead a network of external partners, such as public relations agencies, to deliver results for our business.
- Closely oversee budgets to ensure optimum resourcing for success.
- Develop systems and process to ensure strong and appropriate compliance across all elements of our work.
Provide senior-level counsel, insights and guidance to the President, MedTech China
- Provide the President, MedTech China with strong strategic counsel on both internal and external communication strategy and act as an engaged thought partner.
- Enjoy a deep understanding of the China government, policy and media environment with insights of how to design a communication and public affairs strategy that will best position the company as a thought leader
- Have a deep knowledge of our products and reputation drivers to provide broad, relevant counsel to our business leaders.
- Represent the Communication & Public Affairs function on the China Management Board and actively guide their conversations and deliberations on topics concerning our reputation and positioning both in the market and internally.
- Counsel our senior leaders on change management as we prepare our organization to lead our industry in a new era of development.
- Lead our approach on key sensitive issues and in times of crisis – provide valued counsel to our leadership and lead the communication strategy to mitigate the reputational risks.
Represent and champion our business with external and internal stakeholders, positioning J&J MedTech as a leader of healthcare innovation in China
- Build and manage an active network of media and thought leadership stakeholders to engage on key topics of relevance for our business.
- Partner closely with all relevant functions to actively shape and optimize our external operating environment.
- Develop and retain relations with the senior executives in the key media outlets – both with traditional media and social / digital media outlets.
- Drive outcomes by bringing a measurement focused approach to organizational communication, incorporating relevant metrics that are indicators of employee engagement.
- Partner closely with regional communications team, and counterparts in other Asia Pacific markets to drive the MedTech APAC communication strategy as a whole.
- Build strong relationship with regional and global communications communities to amplify the story of MedTech China.
