What you'll be doing here
- As member of the KOBO team, you will calibrate spectral data (vis, NIR, MIR, XRF, ...) to predict soil properties, using statistical and mathematical algorithms in R
- Develop and implementing laboratory protocols for the spectroscopic measurements of soil properties for quality assurance (including repeated measurements and anomalies)
- Develop a national soil spectral library
- Research, select and procure new laboratory equipment for a spectroscopic measuring station (vis, NIR, MIR, XRF, ...)
- Develop and implement statistical and mathematical methods to analyse and assess spectral data of soil samples for outliers, anomalies and inconsistencies
- Develop and implement interfaces for automated and integrated data management via databases
- Develop automation concepts for the efficient measurement of soil samples with several instruments (vis, MIR, XRF, ...), and implement them in the laboratory
- Professional exchange with cantonal authorities, research institutions and the private sector
What you'll bring with you
- Degree in natural sciences, preferably in the fields of geography, environmental sciences or similar subject areas
- Good knowledge in the evaluation and calibration of spectroscopic data (especially MIR) with suitable statistical-mathematical methods
- Very good knowledge of R software, good knowledge of programming languages, experience in the design and configuration of databases
- Committed and responsible personality with communication skills and a confident appearance, planning and organizational skills
- Language skills: Good command of English, knowledge of German or French
