The Position
External innovation is a critical part of Roche's strategy, and the Corporate Business Development (CBD) function leads all efforts on the Pharma business development continuum starting from searching for and evaluating new partnering opportunities, to negotiating and executing deals (M&A and licensing), as well as managing alliances.
Position Overview:
The Strategic Initiatives Lead is a high-impact position driving business operations and enabling strategy development for CBD, reporting to the Global Head of Business Development Strategy & Practice as part of the Strategy & Business Operations team. This role will work closely with the Head of Corporate Business Development as well as collaborating across the global CBD team and stakeholder groups across the broader Roche organization. This role offers flexibility based on the candidate's interests and skills, providing an excellent opportunity to expand Pharma and business development knowledge, and to further develop within CBD and Roche.
The Opportunity:

Project Management: Plan, manage and execute CBD-wide initiatives, to enable operational excellence of the Corporate Business Development (CBD) function and our deal processes, including projects in support of our processes, people, governance, technology/data/tools.

Drive creation of strategic and reporting deliverables, including CBD goals and deal tracking: Excel the creation of concise presentations supporting the right message for different target groups/stakeholder requirements, including for the Corporate Executive Committee (CEC) and the Board of Directors.

Systems & Business Frameworks: Support and lead efforts to build/optimize systems and business frameworks within CBD.

Meeting Business Management: Take ownership of select relevant leadership or CBD-wide meetings, including planning, agenda setting aligned with strategic objectives of CBD, execution, and follow-up.
Who you are:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with an advanced degree (MBA, MD, PharmD, or PhD) and at least 5-7 years of experience in the healthcare industry.

Experience in strategy consulting or equivalent, and advising executive management.

Significant experience in project leadership and project management.

Ability to build positive relationships, collaborate flexibly within a team, and facilitate cross-group collaboration.

Dedication to operational excellence and achieving measurable results, by optimizing processes for efficiency and effectiveness with a focus on continuous improvement.

Strong skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, translating complex information into clear insights and influencing stakeholders.

Strong communication skills: ability to interact with cross-functional teams and to transfer complex analysis, concepts, and ideas into convincing and clear communication, including presentation materials for senior audiences.
