The Binnig and Rohrer Nanotechnology Center ( BRNC ) is a state-of-the-art research facility, providing cutting-edge infrastructure to advance nanotechnology. The facility for micro- and nano-fabrication comprises more than 1000 m2 of cleanroom and lab space and serves a rich set of demanding research projects driven by employees of ETH, IBM, and their collaboration partners.

Responsibilities
- Process development: Design, develop, and optimize new nanofabrication processes, including troubleshooting, failure/root cause analysis, and statistical process control.
- Collaboration and process support: Work closely with R&D, engineering, and production teams to support cleanroom projects and initiatives. Training of new users in the BRNC.
- Equipment management and maintenance: Evaluation, installation and commissioning of new equipment for nano and microfabrication, service and repairs on existing systems, creation/monitoring of maintenance plans for machines and connected infrastructures.
- Documentation: Creating manuals for operating tools and infrastructure, maintaining detailed records of processes, maintenance activities, and vendor interactions.
- Purchasing: Placing orders for consumables and spare parts, coordination with vendors for purchasing, repairs, and upgrades.
- Safety Compliance: Collaborate with other safety personnel to implement and enforce safety measures and protocols, and ensuring compliance.
Desired Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the field.
- Expertise in the application of vacuum-based thin film deposition techniques such as e.g. physical vapor deposition.
- Knowledge in the areas of electrical engineering and possibly mechanical engineering.
- Open, creative and results-oriented mindset.
- Highly self-motivated, eager to learn and to look for solutions to technical problems and organize work with a great sense of responsibility.
- Strong teamwork skills and a desire to contribute and help proactively.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and cutting-edge research environment, contributing to innovative projects and collaborations.
- Good knowledge of German and English.
