The opportunity
Join the Government and Institutional Relations function as the Institutions Lead developing and executing strategic relationships and action plans with key global institutions as well as supporting the institutional engagement across geographies. Institutions would include International Forums, Industrial bodies, Trade Associations, Energy Associations, Academia Relations etc.
How you will make an impact

Report directly to the Global Head of Government & Institutional Relations and act as an extension of the function in relation to managing the Institutional vertical. This covers Tier 1 and global institutions directly as well as providing oversight and guidance for local institutions in co-ordination with geography leads

Support the Global Head of Government & Institutional Relations in development and execution of government relations strategy relative to institutions by developing policy, messaging and sub-strategies that inspire partnership and trust

Follow a structured selection criteria, ensuring due-diligence and compliance, strategic engagement plans, based on ROI, regular monitoring, reporting and success measurement

Establish and maintain direct and effective working relationships with select institutions and other influential key opinion leaders relevant to Hitachi Energy to advance business development objectives

Develop and execute project initiatives and events related to key institutions, to support the company’s overall positioning and growth strategy

Gather, evaluate and manage policy and regulatory issues of concern to the business and lever-ages institutions from an influence and advocacy perspective on relevant topics

Provide support to geography Government & Institutional Relations Leads to support interactions with key institutions.

Represent Hitachi Energy through Business and Social Institutions to position the company as a technology and thought leader

Create speaking opportunities on relevant platforms

Establish and manage global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting tools to measure the progress and/or success of ongoing activities.

Manage the submission of periodic updates on institutional engagement and evaluation based on KPIs

Support and coordinate the process for global and geography-based Institution budgets ensuring transparency and cost control, as well as efficiency and effectiveness measures.

Communicate and coordinate with senior management, business leaders and other relevant employees to ensure that all company dealings with Institutions are conducted ethically, legally and according to company policies, standards and L&I guidelines.

Contribute to effective risk management by providing advice on key policy decisions. Develop concepts helping employees understand safety and integrity standards and act accordingly. Act as a personal role model for the organization in this regard.

Share domain expertise across geographies and provide guidance and training on global Institution matters
Your background
-
University degree in Political Science, Economics, Business management, Science, Engineering, or related disciplines
-
15+ years of experience in global government/business/institutional relations or closely related leading corporate or public functions, preferably within the power sector. Experience both inside & out-side of governments, business and trade associations are a plus

Good understanding of political, regulatory, and business processes in the energy business

Understanding of international bodies, trade associations, chambers, academia etc.

Solid experience with government relations, public affairs, business institutions, trade associations, social institutions, and academia

Strong experience with agenda-setting and policy issues as well as influence and advocacy initiatives

Proven track record in building strong relationships externally and in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment with dynamic priorities

Excellent interpersonal, communications and advocacy skills to influence, negotiate and persuade; an ability to effectively explain complicated issues and policy positions to any audience

Strong presence to have a high impact on high-ranking internal and external stakeholders; known to industry and key government officials

Strong project management skills; ability to set and meet deadlines within tight timeframe

Excellent verbal and written presentation skills in English; additional languages are a plus
