Internal Communications Manager
Position purpose:
The candidate plays a key role as part of the Internal Communications team in delivering world-class corporate communications in line with our function’s strategy, annual plan and objectives of increasing external awareness and building a trusted JTI brand, and ensuring that our employees understand our Company purpose, goals and strategy.
The focus of this role is to help define and then drive the overall internal communications strategy within our Corporate Communications strategic framework, working closely with Regional and Functional Communications Business Partners as well as the External Communications and Brand and Media Relations teams.
More specifically, the Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for the definition and execution of communication plans that tell JTI's story to employees, be that through Company news, leadership communications or corporate internal campaigns that effectively highlight our priority themes including JTI's purpose, vision, strategy and culture.
There is a significant proportion of leadership communications - both internal and external - to be developed in support of various ExCom members, including the CEO, such as speech writing, preparing posts for Workplace, etc. Support for the Corporate Affairs & Communications SVP includes twice yearly town halls in addition to the ongoing annual communication plan.
What will you do – responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive communication plans aligned to our Corporate Communications strategic framework, which in turn supports JTI's purpose, vision, strategic business objectives and Our Way; write and edit cross-channel content applying JTI’s style and tone of voice
- Coordinate the elaboration of our annual strategic comms plan and editorial plan with other Corp Comms teams
- Develop and execute leadership communication plans including internal and external channels; write speeches, speaking points, announcements, posts, etc. for several ExCom members
- In cooperation with the External and Media Relations teams, manage the reputation survey: onboard/train markets and serve as their point of contact; define what to track, then plot key events on an ongoing basis; define reports; liaise with the vendor to prepare annual reporting; validate and coordinate the insights and recommendations across the organization (CA&C, Corp Strategy, ExCom, etc.); define ongoing comms plan on the survey results and prepare updated presentations as needed
- Lead or support key corporate projects or Corp Comms projects such as a global comms survey, leadership conferences, etc.
Who are we looking for – requirements:
- University degree in marketing, communications or journalism, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in a communications role including experience working with senior leaders
- Excellent level of written and spoken English
- Outstanding writing and storytelling skills
- Strong leadership skills and a good understanding of the business operating environment as well as the cultural diversity across the organization
- Able to develop and cultivate strong interpersonal relationships with employees at all levels, including senior leaders, throughout the business.
- Must have demonstrated ability in developing comprehensive communication plans that meet pre-defined objectives in line with our comms strategy
