Explora Journeys is a vibrant, cosmopolitan, European luxury brand, imagined in the heart of Swiss hospitality in Geneva. Leveraging our parent company MSC Group's hundreds of years of maritime expertise, our fleet of six luxury ships (four currently in the pipeline) are being built and designed in a totally different and unique way that will transform and redefine the cruise experience, creating a category of its own, appealing to the next generation of luxury travellers.
An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and experienced Chief Strategy Officer to join Explora Journeys, our newly created luxury travel brand. This pivotal role is designed for an innovative leader with a proven track record in marketing, strategy, and growth, who will shape and drive the strategic and commercial direction of the brand. By leveraging deep expertise in the luxury travel and cruise sectors, the Chief Strategy Officer will ensure sustained success and position Explora Journeys as a leader in the industry.
This role is based in the office out of our Headquarters in Geneva and reports to the President, Explora Journeys.
Strategic Leadership:
• Working closely with the President, develop and execute a comprehensive corporate strategy aligned with Explora Journeys’ vision, mission, and long-term objectives.
• Play a pivotal role in shaping the future and success of the brand as we expand our fleet from two ships to six by 2028, ensuring seamless integration of this rapid growth into the brand's overarching strategy.
• Join us in our mission to redefine luxury ocean travel, setting new standards of excellence, innovation, and sophistication in the cruise industry.
• Identify and evaluate growth opportunities in key and emerging markets, partnerships, and innovative service offerings to ensure competitive positioning.
• Monitor global market trends, competitive activities, and industry dynamics, and proactively adjust strategies to remain ahead of the curve.
Team and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Build and nurture high-performing, cross-disciplinary teams spanning strategy, marketing, and commercial functions, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure alignment, synergy, and the achievement of shared business objectives.
• Champion a forward-thinking mindset, driving innovation and transformation across all facets of the business.
• Leverage emerging technologies, data analytics, and customer insights to deliver unparalleled luxury experiences and anticipate future market demands.
Commercial and Revenue Growth:
• Drive sustainable revenue growth through data-informed decision-making, customer acquisition strategies, and retention initiatives.
• Oversee commercial operations, including pricing strategies and profitability management, ensuring financial goals are consistently met or exceeded.
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to align business strategies with operational capabilities, ensuring seamless execution and profitability optimization.
Brand Leadership:
• Direct global marketing strategies, aligning all initiatives with overall commercial and brand objectives.
• Lead the development and execution of omnichannel marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness, drive demand, and foster customer loyalty.
• Ensure the seamless integration of digital and traditional marketing efforts, optimizing performance across all channels.
• Proven experience in a senior strategic leadership role within the luxury travel, cruise, or hospitality sectors.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing corporate strategies that deliver tangible growth and market expansion.
• Expertise in brand building, marketing strategy, and omnichannel campaign management within a luxury context.
• Strong financial acumen with a track record of driving profitability and aligning commercial strategies with operational capabilities.
• Exceptional leadership skills, with a history of building and managing high-performing, cross-functional teams.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with experience as a brand spokesperson.
• Deep understanding of market trends, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics in the luxury travel sector.
• Minimum of 10 years in strategic, commercial, or marketing leadership roles, ideally in luxury travel, hospitality, or consumer goods sectors.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
