Analyst/Associate, Boston
Nextech is a global life sciences investment firm specializing in oncology and disease adjacencies, actively allocating across the financing spectrum to capture opportunities in a cyclical biotech market. The firm is led by an entrepreneurial investment group with extensive biotech and early venture experience, working closely with a dedicated Scientific Board of oncology experts to evaluate and realize the most promising opportunities in the industry. Owing to its specialized approach and strategy, the Nextech team accesses world-class investment targets to advance validated, first-in class scientific breakthroughs for the benefit of patients across the world.
We are looking for full-time Analysts and Associates based in our Boston office. In this role, you will join our world-class team to support the investment decisions of our firm, performing due diligence on prospective companies, assessing market opportunities, and managing our portfolio as companies strive to achieve growth and exit goals. Through these aims, you will have an opportunity to participate in many areas across science, medicine, business, strategy, operations, and investing.
Compensation for these roles ranges from USD 150-200K, determined by a number of a factors including skills, qualifications and experience. We offer competitive benefits packages, including discretionary bonuses, retirement/pension plan contributions, and a generous vacation and sick leave.
Responsibilities
- Join the investment team, supporting due diligence
- Participate in the internal investment committee review process for making financing decisions: prepare materials and reports for committee meetings
- Screen business plans and evaluate investment proposals
- Support scientific and clinical data analysis
- Evaluate IP and commercial landscapes
- Learn the firm’s investment philosophy and become familiar with representative transactions
- Develop understanding of typical firm deal structure concepts
- Create and develop a database of the firm’s investments, assets, indications, and overlap with those of pharmaceutical companies
Qualifications
- BS in life sciences, chemistry, or biochemistry required. Master, PhD and/or MD degree in relevant field preferred. Expertise in translational research is favorable
- Additional business experience is a plus (e.g. operations, finance, consulting)
- Fast learner and go-getter, able to quickly become independent in technical areas outside core expertise and perform tasks without much oversight
- Able to rapidly adapt in constantly evolving situations with a proactive mindset
- Must have a passion for medical innovation combined with an entrepreneurial drive and solution-oriented approach
- Strong presentation and communication skills in English (Excel and PowerPoint proficiency)
