Summary: Under the direction of the Practice Leader and in compliance with the firm’s mission and values, the International Services Group Associate is responsible for delivering high-quality service through technical quality control, cost effectiveness, accuracy, and timeliness. The Associate provides organization and preparation of inbound and outbound US individual tax returns, as well as special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of U.S. individual tax filings and supporting workpapers with cross border implications ensuring accuracy and quality work product.
- Identify and analyze tax issues and present solutions to engagement team lead.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end estimates to assist clients with tax planning.
- Assist engagement team lead with consultation of inbound and outbound individual taxation and tax planning to develop international tax strategies.
- Research technical topics and provide findings to engagement team lead.
- Maintain proactive communication with engagement team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines and deliverables.
- Work collaboratively in teams internally and with foreign offices to provide quality client service, share knowledge, best practices and suggestions for improvement with colleagues.
- Stay abreast of current IRS laws, regulations and best practices; commit to ongoing personal professional development and continuous improvement plans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the CCH suite of tax and research tools a plus
- Experience with typical international US tax reporting forms such as 114, 8938, 8621, 5471, 8865, 8858, 3520
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to new technology platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with all levels of personnel internally and externally
- Ability to work independently, but also in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in MS office tools
- German language skills a plus but not required
