We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Head of Health and Wellbeing to lead our dynamic Health and Wellbeing department. This role is central to promoting a healthy and safe environment for our students, supporting their mental and physical wellbeing, and enhancing their educational potential.
Role Overview:
As the Head of Health and Wellbeing, you will lead a dedicated team that includes nurses and counselors, working to support a diverse student population. You will be responsible for overseeing student health, mental health, counseling, and wellbeing services, ensuring students receive the highest quality support to help them thrive throughout their academic journey.
You will collaborate with key stakeholders within the institution and external partners to develop and implement strategies to address the health and wellbeing needs of our students, particularly in times of crisis. As the principal advisor in student health matters, you will contribute to shaping the overall student experience, ensuring a consistent, professional, and holistic approach to student wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the health, mental health, counseling, and wellbeing services for students, both on campus and during internships.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance student health and wellbeing services, responding to student demand and individual crises.
- Act as the primary advisor on student health and wellbeing matters, working closely with senior management.
- Cultivate a positive health and wellbeing culture across the institution.
- Lead and support a diverse team, aligning departmental activities to deliver efficient, effective services.
- Manage the department's budget and ensure service delivery meets quality assurance standards.
- Develop risk assessments, care plans, and recovery plans for students.
- Implement a triage system for student health concerns and refer students to appropriate internal or external services.
- Introduce an evidence-based approach to data collection and reporting to improve services and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant institutional policies and regulations, maintaining the confidentiality of student medical records.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certified Nurse with relevant tertiary qualifications in health, psychology, or a related field.
- Experience in managing or leading a counseling, health, or wellbeing service in a tertiary education or medical setting.
- Experience working with young adults in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
- Proven ability to manage risk and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of local health organizations and third-sector resources.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and management abilities with a focus on teamwork and inclusivity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex or sensitive data effectively.
- Proficient in problem-solving and utilizing innovative solutions to improve service delivery.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in all aspects of the role.
- Experience in policy development, data management, and reporting to inform decision-making.
