The Opportunity

For our Business Unit High Voltage Products in Zurich-Oerlikon, we are looking for an R&D Engineer in Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Technology Development. How you will make an impact

  • You are a technical expert in the development of gas-insulated switchgear with a focus on SF6 alternative gases and high voltage equipment

  • During development, you work together with internal and external partners (laboratories, product management, suppliers and production facilities)

  • You will work on innovative product solutions that meet international standards and internal guidelines and will actively help shape the standards and processes

  • Responsible for the organization, supervision and evaluation of development and type tests (high performance, high voltage, high current, mechanics, environment ...) 

  • analyze, visualize and assess data from development and type tests as well as from operation (using environments such as Excel, Python or Matlab) and derive the next steps in product development from your results

  • Summarize development and test results in technical reports and presentations (also externally)

  • Participate in the processing of issues such as complex quality cases or continuous improvement activities

  • Take the opportunity to participate in international expert committees

Your background

  • Electrical engineer, physicist or closely related fields with professional experience  

  • High-voltage switchgear experience

  • Ability to work well in a team  

  • Creative, independent and solution-oriented approach 

  • Good knowledge of English; German an advantage 

  • Good communication skills in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment 

  • Programming skills or open to acquiring them (Excel, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, …)
